Parallel
Psalms 8
Louis Segond 1910 · Berean Standard Bible
Au chef des chantres. Sur la guitthith. Psaume de David.
For the choirmaster. According to Gittith (note: Gittith is probably a musical or liturgical term; here and in Psalms 81 and 84.). A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.
Éternel, notre Seigneur!
From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained praise (note: Literally You have ordained strength; LXX You have prepared praise; cited in Matthew 21:16) on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.
When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—
what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
You made him a little lower than the angels (note: Or than God or than the heavenly beings; see also LXX.); You crowned him with glory and honor.
Tu l’as fait de peu inférieur à Dieu,
You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under his feet (note: Cited in 1 Corinthians 15:27 and Hebrews 2:6–8):
Tu lui as donné la domination sur les œuvres de tes mains,
all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,
Les brebis comme les bœufs,
the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
