Psalms 84
Clementine Vulgate · Berean Standard Bible
In finem, filiis Core. Psalmus.
For the choirmaster. According to Gittith (note: Gittith is probably a musical or liturgical term; here and in Psalms 8 and 81.). A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How lovely is Your dwelling place, O LORD of Hosts!
Benedixisti, Domine, terram tuam ; avertisti captivitatem Jacob.
My soul longs, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Remisisti iniquitatem plebis tuæ ; operuisti omnia peccata eorum.
Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she places her young near Your altars, O LORD of Hosts, my King and my God.
Mitigasti omnem iram tuam ; avertisti ab ira indignationis tuæ.
How blessed are those who dwell in Your house! They are ever praising You. Selah
Converte nos, Deus salutaris noster, et averte iram tuam a nobis.
Blessed are those whose strength is in You, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
Numquid in æternum irasceris nobis ? aut extendes iram tuam a generatione in generationem ?
As they pass through the Valley of Baca (note: Or Valley of Poplars), they make it a place of springs; even the autumn rain covers it with pools (note: Or with blessings).
Deus, tu conversus vivificabis nos, et plebs tua lætabitur in te.
They go from strength to strength, until each appears before God in Zion.
Ostende nobis, Domine, misericordiam tuam, et salutare tuum da nobis.
O LORD God of Hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah
Audiam quid loquatur in me Dominus Deus, quoniam loquetur pacem in plebem suam, et super sanctos suos, et in eos qui convertuntur ad cor.
Take notice of our shield, O God, and look with favor on the face of Your anointed.
Verumtamen prope timentes eum salutare ipsius, ut inhabitet gloria in terra nostra.
For better is one day in Your courts than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Misericordia et veritas obviaverunt sibi ; justitia et pax osculatæ sunt.
For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD gives grace and glory; He withholds no good thing from those who walk with integrity.
Veritas de terra orta est, et justitia de cælo prospexit.
O LORD of Hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in You!
