For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A song. God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel.
Voce mea ad Dominum clamavi ; voce mea ad Deum, et intendit mihi.
His tent is in Salem (note: That is, Jerusalem), His dwelling place in Zion.
In die tribulationis meæ Deum exquisivi ; manibus meis nocte contra eum, et non sum deceptus. Renuit consolari anima mea ;
There He shattered the flaming arrows, the shield and sword and weapons of war. Selah
memor fui Dei, et delectatus sum, et exercitatus sum, et defecit spiritus meus.
You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains filled with game.
Anticipaverunt vigilias oculi mei ; turbatus sum, et non sum locutus.
The valiant lie plundered; they sleep their last sleep. No men of might could lift a hand.
Cogitavi dies antiquos, et annos æternos in mente habui.
At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both horse and rider lie stunned.
Et meditatus sum nocte cum corde meo, et exercitabar, et scopebam spiritum meum.
You alone are to be feared. When You are angry, who can stand before You?
Numquid in æternum projiciet Deus ? aut non apponet ut complacitior sit adhuc ?
From heaven You pronounced judgment, and the earth feared and was still
aut in finem misericordiam suam abscindet, a generatione in generationem ?
when God rose up to judge, to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah
aut obliviscetur misereri Deus ? aut continebit in ira sua misericordias suas ?
Even the wrath of man shall praise You; with the survivors of wrath You will clothe Yourself (note: Or Surely Your wrath against men brings You praise, and the survivors of Your wrath will be restrained.).
Et dixi : Nunc cœpi ; hæc mutatio dexteræ Excelsi.
Make and fulfill your vows to the LORD your God; let all the neighboring lands bring tribute to Him who is to be feared.
Memor fui operum Domini, quia memor ero ab initio mirabilium tuorum :
He breaks the spirits of princes; He is feared by the kings of the earth.
