For the choirmaster. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all inhabitants of the world,
beide, gemeiner Mann und Herren, beide, reich und arm, miteinander!
49:2
both low and high, rich and poor alike.
Mein Mund soll von Weisheit reden und mein Herz von Verstand sagen.
49:3
My mouth will impart wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will bring understanding.
Ich will einem Spruch mein Ohr neigen und kundtun mein Rätsel beim Klange der Harfe.
49:4
I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle with the harp:
Warum sollte ich mich fürchten in bösen Tagen, wenn mich die Missetat meiner Untertreter umgibt,
49:5
Why should I fear in times of trouble, when wicked usurpers surround me?
die sich verlassen auf ihr Gut und trotzen auf ihren großen Reichtum?
49:6
They trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches.
Kann doch einen Bruder niemand erlösen noch ihn Gott versöhnen
49:7
No man can possibly redeem his brother (note: Or redeem another) or pay his ransom to God.
(denn es kostet zuviel, ihre Seele zu erlösen; man muss es lassen anstehen ewiglich),
49:8
For the redemption of his soul is costly, and never can payment suffice,
dass er fortlebe immerdar und die Grube nicht sehe.
49:9
that he should live on forever and not see decay.
Denn man wird sehen, dass die Weisen sterben sowohl als die Toren und Narren umkommen und müssen ihr Gut andern lassen.
49:10
For it is clear that wise men die, and the foolish and the senseless both perish and leave their wealth to others.
Das ist ihr Herz, dass ihre Häuser währen immerdar, ihre Wohnungen bleiben für und für; und haben große Ehre auf Erden.
49:11
Their graves (note: LXX, Syriac, and Aramaic Targum; Hebrew Their inward thoughts) are their eternal homes—their dwellings for endless generations—even though their lands were their namesakes.
Dennoch kann ein Mensch nicht bleiben in solchem Ansehen, sondern muss davon wie ein Vieh.
49:12
But a man, despite his wealth, cannot endure; he is like the beasts that perish.
Dies ihr Tun ist eitel Torheit; doch loben's ihre Nachkommen mit ihrem Munde. (Sela.)
49:13
This is the fate of the foolish (note: Or the way of the foolish) and their followers who endorse their sayings. Selah
Sie liegen in der Hölle wie Schafe, der Tod weidet sie; aber die Frommen werden gar bald über sie herrschen, und ihr Trotz muss vergehen; in der Hölle müssen sie bleiben.
49:14
Like sheep they are destined for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in Sheol, far from their lofty abode.
Aber Gott wird meine Seele erlösen aus der Hölle Gewalt; denn er hat mich angenommen. (Sela.)
49:15
But God will redeem my life from Sheol, for He will surely take me to Himself. Selah
Lass dich's nicht irren, ob einer reich wird, ob die Herrlichkeit seines Hauses groß wird.
49:16
Do not be afraid when a man grows rich, when the splendor of his house increases.
Denn er wird nichts in seinem Sterben mitnehmen, und seine Herrlichkeit wird ihm nicht nachfahren.
49:17
For when he dies, he will carry nothing away; his abundance will not follow him down.
Er tröstet sich wohl dieses guten Lebens, und man preiset's, wenn einer sich gütlich tut;
49:18
Though in his lifetime he blesses his soul—and men praise you when you prosper—
aber doch fahren sie ihren Vätern nach und sehen das Licht nimmermehr.
49:19
he will join the generation of his fathers, who will never see the light of day.
Kurz, wenn ein Mensch in Ansehen ist und hat keinen Verstand, so fährt er davon wie ein Vieh.
49:20
A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish.
