When Jesus had finished saying all these things, He told His disciples,
" Vous savez que la Pâque a lieu dans deux jours, et que le Fils de l'homme va être livré pour être crucifié. "
“You know that the Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.”
Alors les Princes des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple se réunirent dans la cour du grand-prêtre, appelé Caïphe,
At that time the chief priests and elders of the people assembled in the courtyard of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
et ils délibérèrent sur les moyens de s'emparer de Jésus par ruse et de le faire mourir.
and they conspired to arrest Jesus covertly and kill Him.
" Mais, disaient-ils, il ne faut pas que ce soit pendant la fête, de peur qu'il ne s'élève quelque tumulte parmi le peuple. "
“But not during the feast,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”

So from then on Judas looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
Le premier jour des Azymes, les disciples vinrent trouver Jésus, et lui dirent : " Où voulez-vous que nous préparions le repas pascal ? "
On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
Jésus leur répondit : " Allez à la ville chez un tel, et dites-lui : Le Maître te fait dire : Mon temps est proche, je ferai chez toi la Pâque avec mes disciples. "
He answered, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him that the Teacher says, ‘My time is near. I will keep the Passover with My disciples at your house.’”
Les disciples firent ce que Jésus leur avait commandé, et ils préparèrent la Pâque.
So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

When evening came, Jesus was reclining with the twelve disciples (note: BYZ and TR the Twelve).

Jesus answered, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with Me will betray Me.
Le Fils de l'homme s'en va selon ce qui est écrit de lui ; mais malheur à l'homme par qui le Fils de l'homme est trahi ! Mieux vaudrait pour lui que cet homme-là ne fût pas né. "
The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed. It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
Judas, qui le trahissait, prit la parole et dit : " Est-ce moi, Maître ? " — " Tu l'as dit, " répondit Jésus.
Then Judas, who would betray Him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said it yourself.”
Pendant le repas, Jésus prit le pain ; et, ayant prononcé une bénédiction, il le rompit et le donna à ses disciples, en disant : " Prenez et mangez, ceci est mon corps. "
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.”
Il prit ensuite la coupe, et, ayant rendu grâces, il la leur donna en disant : " Buvez-en tous :
Then He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.
car ceci est mon sang, le sang de la nouvelle l'alliance, répandu pour la multitude en rémission des péchés.
This is My blood of the covenant (note: BYZ and TR the new covenant), which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
Après le chant de l'hymne, ils s'en allèrent au mont des Oliviers.
And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Alors Jésus leur dit : " Je vous serai à tous, cette nuit, une occasion de chute ; car il est écrit : Je frapperai le pasteur, et les brebis du troupeau seront dispersées.
Then Jesus said to them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of Me. For it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered (note: Zechariah 13:7).’

But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”
Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit : " Quand vous seriez pour tous une occasion de chute, vous ne le serez jamais pour moi. "

Jésus lui dit : " Je te le dis en vérité, cette nuit-même, avant que le coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois. "
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus declared, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”
Pierre lui répondit : " Quand il me faudrait mourir avec vous, je ne vous renierai pas. " Et tous les autres disciples dirent de même.
Peter replied, “Even if I have to die with You, I will never deny You.” And all the other disciples said the same thing.
Alors Jésus arriva avec eux dans un domaine appelé Gethsémani, et il dit à ses disciples : " Asseyez-vous ici, pendant que je m'éloignerai pour prier. "
Then Jesus went with His disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and He told them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
Ayant pris avec lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, il commença à éprouver de la tristesse et de l'angoisse.
He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee and began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”

Then Jesus returned to the disciples and found them sleeping. “Were you not able to keep watch with Me for one hour?” He asked Peter.

“Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

And again Jesus returned and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

So He left them and went away once more and prayed a third time, saying the same thing.
Puis il revint à ses disciples et leur dit : " Dormez maintenant et reposez-vous ; voici que l'heure est proche, où le Fils de l'homme va être livré aux mains des pécheurs. —
Then He returned to the disciples and said, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Levez-vous, allons, celui qui me trahit est près d'ici. "
Rise, let us go! See, My betrayer is approaching!”
Il parlait encore, lorsque Judas, l'un des Douze, arriva, et avec lui une troupe nombreuse de gens armés d'épées et de bâtons, envoyée par les Princes des prêtres et les Anciens du peuple.
While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Le traître leur avait donné ce signe : " Celui que je baiserai, c'est lui, arrêtez-le. "
Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The One I kiss is the man; arrest Him.”
Et aussitôt, s'approchant de Jésus, il dit : " Salut, Maître ", et il le baisa.
Going directly to Jesus, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.
Jésus lui dit : " Mon ami, pourquoi est-tu ici ? " En même temps, ils s'avancèrent, mirent la main sur Jésus et le saisirent.
“Friend,” Jesus replied, “do what you came for (note: Or “Friend,” Jesus replied, “for what have you come?”).” Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus, and arrested Him.
Et voilà qu'un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus, mettant l'épée à la main, en frappa le serviteur du grand prêtre et lui emporta l'oreille.
At this, one of Jesus’ companions drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
Alors Jésus lui dit : " Remets ton épée à sa place ; car tous ceux qui se serviront de l'épée, périront par l'épée.
“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
Penses-tu que je ne puisse pas sur l'heure prier mon Père, qui me donnerait plus de douze légions d'anges ?
Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?
Comment donc s'accompliront les Ecritures, qui attestent qu'il en doit être ainsi ? "
But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”
En même temps, Jésus dit à la foule : " Vous êtes venus, comme à un voleur, avec des épées et des bâtons pour me prendre. J'étais tous les jours assis parmi vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m'avez pas saisi ;
At that time Jesus said to the crowd, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would an outlaw? Every day I sat teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest Me.

But this has all happened so that the writings of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples deserted Him and fled.
Ceux qui avaient arrêté Jésus l'emmenèrent chez Caïphe, le grand prêtre, où s'étaient assemblés les Scribes et les Anciens du peuple.
Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders had gathered.
Pierre le suivit de loin jusqu'à la cour du grand prêtre, y entra, et s'assit avec les serviteurs pour voir la fin.
But Peter followed Him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. And he went in and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
Cependant les Princes des prêtres et tout le Conseil cherchaient quelque faux témoignage contre Jésus afin de le faire mourir ;
Now the chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin (note: Or the whole Council) were seeking false testimony against Jesus in order to put Him to death.
et ils n'en trouvèrent point, quoique plusieurs faux témoins se fussent présentés. Enfin il en vint deux
But they did not find any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally two came forward
qui dirent : " Cet homme a dit : Je puis détruire le temple de Dieu et le rebâtir en trois jours. "
and declared, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it in three days.’”
Le grand prêtre, se levant, dit à Jésus : " Ne réponds-tu rien à ce que ces hommes déposent contre toi ? "
So the high priest stood up and asked Him, “Have You no answer? What are these men testifying against You?”
Jésus gardait le silence. Et le grand prêtre lui dit : " Je t'adjure par le Dieu vivant de nous dire si tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu ? "
But Jesus remained silent. Then the high priest said to Him, “I charge You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God.”
Jésus lui répondit : " Tu l'as dit ; de plus, je vous le dis, dès ce jour vous verrez le Fils de l'homme siéger à la droite du Tout-Puissant et venir sur les nuées du ciel. "
“You have said it yourself,” Jesus answered. “But I say to all of you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power (note: Or the right hand of the Mighty One) and coming on the clouds of heaven (note: See Psalm 110:1 and Daniel 7:13.).”
Alors le grand prêtre déchira ses vêtements, en disant : " Il a blasphémé, qu'avons-nous encore besoin de témoins ? Vous venez d'entendre son blasphème :
At this, the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “He has blasphemed! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy.

What do you think?” “He deserves to die,” they answered.
Alors ils lui crachèrent au visage, et le frappèrent avec le poing ; d'autres le souffletèrent,
Then they spit in His face and struck Him. Others slapped Him

and said, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who hit You?”
Cependant Pierre était dehors, assis dans la cour. Une servante l'aborda et lui dit : " Toi aussi, tu étais avec Jésus le Galiléen. "
Meanwhile, Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came up to him. “You also were with Jesus the Galilean,” she said.
Mais il le nia devant tous en disant : " Je ne sais ce que tu veux dire. "
But he denied it before them all: “I do not know what you are talking about.”
Comme il se dirigeait vers le vestibule, pour s'en aller, une autre servante le vit et dit à ceux qui se trouvaient là : " Celui-ci était aussi avec Jésus de Nazareth. "
When Peter had gone out to the gateway, another servant girl saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”
Et Pierre le nia une seconde fois avec serment : " Je ne connais pas cet homme. "
And again he denied it with an oath: “I do not know the man!”
Peu après, ceux qui étaient là s'approchèrent de Pierre, et lui dirent : " Certainement, tu es aussi de ces gens-là ; car ton langage même te faire reconnaître. "
After a little while, those standing nearby came up to Peter. “Surely you are one of them,” they said, “for your accent gives you away.”
Alors il se mit à faire des imprécations et à jurer qu'il ne connaissait pas cet homme. Aussitôt le coq chanta.
At that he began to curse and swear to them, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed.
Et Pierre se souvint de la parole que Jésus lui avait dite : " Avant que le coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois ; " et étant sorti, il pleura amèrement.
Then Peter remembered the word that Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.
