Soon afterward, Jesus traveled from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with Him,
ainsi que quelques femmes qui avaient été guéries d'esprits malins et de maladies : Marie, dite de Magdala, de laquelle étaient sortis sept démons ;
as well as some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
Jeanne, femme de Chusa, intendant d'Hérode, Suzanne et plusieurs autres, qui l'assistaient de leurs biens.
Joanna the wife of Herod’s household manager Chuza, Susanna, and many others. These women were ministering to them (note: TR to Him) out of their own means.
Une grande foule s'étant amassée, et des gens étant venus à lui de diverses villes, Jésus dit en parabole :
While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, He told them this parable:
" Le semeur sortit pour répandre sa semence ; et pendant qu'il semait, une partie tomba le long du chemin, et elle fut foulée aux pieds, et les oiseaux du ciel la mangèrent.
“A farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, where it was trampled, and the birds of the air devoured it.
Une autre partie tomba sur la pierre, et, aussitôt levée, elle sécha, parce qu'elle n'avait pas d'humidité.
Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the seedlings withered because they had no moisture.
Une autre partie tomba parmi les épines, et les épines croissant avec elle l'étouffèrent.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the seedlings.
Une autre partie tomba dans la bonne terre, et ayant levé, elle donna du fruit au centuple. " Parlant ainsi, il disait à haute voix : " Que celui qui a des oreilles entende bien. "
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it sprang up and produced a crop—a hundredfold.” As Jesus said this, He called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Ses disciples lui demandèrent ce que signifiait cette parabole :
Then His disciples asked Him what this parable meant.
" A vous, leur dit-il, il a été donné de connaître le mystère du royaume de Dieu, tandis qu'aux autres, il est annoncé en paraboles, de sorte qu'en voyant ils ne voient point, et qu'en entendant ils ne comprennent point.
He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, ‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand (note: Isaiah 6:9 (See also LXX)).’
Voici ce que signifie cette parabole : La semence, c'est la parole de Dieu.
Now this is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.
Ceux qui sont le long du chemin, ce sont ceux qui entendent la parole ; mais ensuite le démon vient, et l'enlève de leur cœur, de peur qu'ils ne croient et ne soient sauvés.
The seeds along the path are those who hear, but the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
Ceux en qui on sème sur la pierre, ce sont ceux qui, entendant la parole, la reçoivent avec joie ; mais ils n'ont point de racine : ils croient pour un temps, et ils succombent à l'heure de la tentation.
The seeds on rocky ground are those who hear the word and receive it with joy, but they have no root. They believe for a season, but in the time of testing, they fall away.
Ce qui est tombé sur les épines, représente ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole, se laissent peu à peu étouffer par les soucis, les richesses et les plaisirs de la vie, et ils n'arrivent point à maturité.
The seeds that fell among the thorns are those who hear, but as they go on their way, they are choked by the worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and their fruit does not mature.
Enfin, ce qui est tombé dans la bonne terre, représente ceux qui, ayant entendu la parole avec un cœur bon et excellent, la gardent, et portent du fruit par la constance.
But the seeds on good soil are those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, cling to it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Il n'est personne qui, après avoir allumé une lampe, la couvre d'un vase, ou la mette sous un lit ; mais on la met sur un chandelier, afin que ceux qui entrent voient la lumière.
No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light.
Car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne se découvre, rien de secret qui ne finisse par être connu et ne vienne au grand jour.
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.
Prenez donc garde à la manière dont vous écoutez ; car on donnera à celui qui a ; et à celui qui n'a pas, on ôtera même ce qu'il croit avoir. "
Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.”
La mère et les frères de Jésus vinrent le trouver, mais ils ne purent pénétrer jusqu'à lui à cause de la foule.
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him, but they were unable to reach Him because of the crowd.
On vint lui dire : " Votre mère et vos frères sont là dehors, et ils désirent vous voir. "
He was told, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You.”
Il leur répondit : " Ma mère et mes frères sont ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui la mettent en pratique. "
But He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word of God and carry it out.”
Un jour, il arriva que Jésus monta dans une barque avec ses disciples, et leur dit : " Passons de l'autre côté du lac. " Et ils se mirent en mer.
One day Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us cross to the other side of the lake.” So He got into a boat with them and set out.
Pendant qu'ils naviguaient, il s'endormit ; et un tourbillon de vent s'étant abattu sur le lac, leur barque s'emplissait d'eau, et ils étaient en péril.
As they sailed, He fell asleep, and a windstorm came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
S'approchant donc, ils le réveillèrent en disant : " Maître ! Maître ! nous périssons ! " S'étant levé, il réprimanda le vent et les flots agités, et ils s'apaisèrent, et le calme se fit.
The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters, and they subsided, and all was calm.
Puis il leur dit : " Où est votre foi ? " Saisis de crainte et d'étonnement, ils se disaient les uns aux autres : " Quel est donc celui-ci, qui commande au vent et à la mer, et ils lui obéissent ? "
“Where is your faith?” He asked. Frightened and amazed, they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him!”
Ils abordèrent ensuite au pays des Géraséniens, qui est vis-à-vis de la Galilée.
Then they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes (note: BYZ and TR Gadarenes; Tischendorf Gergesenes; also in verse 37), across the lake from Galilee.
Lorsque Jésus fut descendu à terre, il vint au-devant de lui un homme de la ville, qui était depuis longtemps possédé des démons, il ne portait aucun vêtement et n'avait point d'autre habitation que les sépulcres.
When Jesus stepped ashore, He was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothing or lived in a house, but he stayed in the tombs.
Aussitôt qu'il eut aperçu Jésus, il poussa des cris et vint se prosterner à ses pieds, disant à haute voix : " Qu'avez-vous à faire avec moi, Jésus, Fils de Dieu, Très-Haut ? De grâce, ne me tourmentez point. "
When the man saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, shouting in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You not to torture me!”
En effet, Jésus commandait à l'esprit impur de sortir de cet homme. Bien des fois en effet l'esprit s'en était emparé, et quoiqu'on le gardât lié de chaînes et de fers aux pieds, il rompait ses liens, et le démon le chassait dans les lieux déserts.
For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and been driven by the demon into solitary places.
Jésus lui demanda : " Quel est ton nom ? " Il lui dit : " Je m'appelle Légion " ; car beaucoup de démons étaient entrés en lui.
“What is your name?” Jesus asked. “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him.
Et ces démons priaient Jésus de ne pas leur commander d'aller dans l'abîme.
And the demons kept begging Jesus not to order them to go into the Abyss.
Or, il y avait là un nombreux troupeau de porcs qui paissaient sur la montagne ; ils le prièrent de leur permettre d'y entrer, et il le leur permit.
There on the hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding. So the demons begged Jesus to let them enter the pigs, and He gave them permission.
Sortant donc de cet homme ils entrèrent dans les pourceaux ; et le troupeau, prenant sa course, se précipita par les pentes escarpées dans le lac, et s'y noya.
Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.
A cette vue, les gardiens s'enfuirent, et en portèrent la nouvelle dans la ville et dans la campagne.
When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside.
Les habitants sortirent pour voir ce qui était arrivé : ils vinrent à Jésus, et trouvèrent l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis, assis à ses pieds, vêtu et sain d'esprit ; et ils furent remplis de frayeur.
So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons had left, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
Ceux qui en avaient été témoins leur racontèrent aussi comment le démoniaque avait été délivré.
Meanwhile, those who had seen it reported how the demon-possessed man had been healed.
Alors tous les habitants du pays des Géraséniens le prièrent de s'éloigner d'eux, parce qu'ils étaient saisis d'une grande crainte. Jésus monta donc dans la barque pour s'en retourner.
Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, because great fear had taken hold of them. So He got into the boat and started back.
Or, l'homme de qui les démons étaient sortis le priait de l'admettre à sa suite ; mais Jésus le renvoya en disant :
The man whom the demons had left begged to go with Jesus. But He sent him away, saying,
" Retourne dans ta maison, et raconte tout ce que Dieu a fait pour toi. " Et il s'en alla et publia par toute la ville, ce que Jésus avait fait pour lui.
“Return home and describe how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and proclaimed all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.
Jésus, à son retour, fut accueilli par le peuple, car tous l'attendaient.
When Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him.
Et voilà qu'un homme appelé Jaïre, lequel était chef de la synagogue, vint se jeter aux pieds de Jésus, le priant d'entrer dans sa maison,
Just then a synagogue leader named Jairus came and fell at Jesus’ feet. He begged Him to come to his house,
parce qu'il avait une fille unique, d'environ douze ans, qui se mourait. Comme Jésus y allait, et qu'il était pressé par la foule,
because his only daughter, who was about twelve, was dying. As Jesus went with him, the crowds pressed around Him,
une femme affligée d'un flux de sang depuis douze ans, et qui avait dépensé tout son bien en médecins, sans qu'aucun eût pu la guérir,
including a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on physicians (note: NE and WH do not include She had spent all her money on physicians.), but no one was able to heal her.
s'approcha de lui par derrière et toucha la houppe de son manteau. A l'instant son flux de sang s'arrêta.
She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
Et Jésus dit : " Qui m'a touché ? " Tous s'en défendant, Pierre et ceux qui étaient avec lui dirent : " Maître, la foule vous entoure et vous presse, et vous demandez : Qui m'a touché ? "
“Who touched Me?” Jesus asked. But they all denied it. “Master,” said Peter (note: BYZ and TR include and those who were with him.), “the people are crowding and pressing against You.”
Mais Jésus dit : " Quelqu'un m'a touché, car j'ai senti qu'une force était sortie de moi. "
But Jesus declared, “Someone touched Me, for I know that power has gone out from Me.”
Se voyant découverte, la femme vint toute tremblante se jeter à ses pieds, et raconta devant tout le peuple pourquoi elle l'avait touché, et comment elle avait été guérie à l'instant.
Then the woman, seeing that she could not escape notice, came trembling and fell down before Him. In the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched Him and how she had immediately been healed.
Et Jésus lui dit : " Ma fille, ta foi t'a sauvée ; va en paix. "
“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
Comme il parlait encore, quelqu'un de chez le chef de la synagogue vint lui dire : " Ta fille est morte, ne fatigue pas le Maître. "
While He was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore.”
Jésus ayant entendu cette parole, répondit au père : " Ne crains pas ; crois seulement, et elle sera sauvée. "
But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
Arrivé à la maison, il ne laissa personne entrer avec lui, si ce n'est Pierre, Jacques et Jean, avec le père et la mère de l'enfant.
When He entered the house, He did not allow anyone to go in with Him except Peter, John, James, and the child’s father and mother.
Or tous pleuraient et se lamentaient sur elle, et Jésus dit : " Ne pleurez point ; elle n'est pas morte, mais elle dort. "
Meanwhile, everyone was weeping and mourning for her. But Jesus said, “Stop weeping; she is not dead but asleep.”
Et ils se moquaient de lui, sachant bien qu'elle était morte.
And they laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead.
Mais lui, la prenant par la main, dit à haute voix : " Enfant, lève-toi "
But Jesus took her by the hand and called out, “Child, get up!”
Et son esprit revint en elle, et elle se leva à l'instant ; et Jésus ordonna de lui donner à manger.
Her spirit returned, and at once she got up. And He directed that she be given something to eat.
Ses parents furent dans le ravissement, mais il leur recommanda de ne dire à personne ce qui était arrivé.
Her parents were astounded, but Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.
