Will mit dem Allmächtigen rechten der Haderer? Wer Gott tadelt, soll's der nicht verantworten?
“Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? Let him who argues with God give an answer.”
Siehe, ich bin zu leichtfertig gewesen; was soll ich verantworten? Ich will meine Hand auf meinen Mund legen.
“Behold, I am insignificant. How can I reply to You? I place my hand over my mouth.
Ich habe einmal geredet, und will nicht antworten; zum andernmal will ich's nicht mehr tun.
I have spoken once, but I have no answer—twice, but I have nothing to add.”
Und der HErr antwortete Hiob aus dem Wetter und sprach:
Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
Gürte wie ein Mann deine Lenden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!
“Now brace yourself (note: Hebrew gird up your loins) like a man; I will question you, and you shall inform Me (note: Cited in Job 42:4).
Solltest du mein Urteil zunichte machen und mich verdammen, dass du gerecht seist?
Would you really annul My justice? Would you condemn Me to justify yourself?
Hast du einen Arm wie Gott, und kannst mit gleicher Stimme donnern, wie er tut?
Do you have an arm like God’s? Can you thunder with a voice like His?
Schmücke dich mit Pracht und erhebe dich; ziehe Majestät und Herrlichkeit an!
Then adorn yourself with majesty and splendor, and clothe yourself with honor and glory.
Streue aus den Zorn deines Grimmes; schaue an die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind, und demütige sie!
Unleash the fury of your wrath; look on every proud man and bring him low.
Ja, schaue die Hochmütigen, wo sie sind und beuge sie; und zermalme die Gottlosen, wo sie sind!
Look on every proud man and humble him; trample the wicked where they stand.
Verscharre sie miteinander in die Erde und versenke ihre Pracht ins Verborgene,
Bury them together in the dust; imprison them in the grave (note: Or in the hidden place).
so will ich dir auch bekennen, dass dir deine rechte Hand helfen kann.
Then I will confess to you that your own right hand can save you.
Siehe da, den Behemoth, den ich neben dir gemacht habe; er frisst Gras wie ein Ochse.
Look at Behemoth, which I made along with you. He feeds on grass like an ox.
Siehe seine Kraft ist in seinen Lenden und sein Vermögen in den Sehnen seines Bauches.
See the strength of his loins and the power in the muscles of his belly.
Sein Schwanz streckt sich wie eine Zeder; die Sehnen seiner Schenkel sind dicht geflochten.
His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.
Seine Knochen sind wie eherne Röhren; seine Gebeine sind wie eiserne Stäbe.
His bones are tubes of bronze; his limbs are rods of iron.
Er ist der Anfang der Wege Gottes; der ihn gemacht hat, der gab ihm sein Schwert.
He is the foremost of God’s works (note: Hebrew ways); only his Maker can draw the sword against him.
Die Berge tragen ihm Kräuter, und alle wilden Tiere spielen daselbst.
The hills yield him their produce, while all the beasts of the field play nearby.
Er liegt gern im Schatten, im Rohr und im Schlamm verborgen.
He lies under the lotus plants (note: Or bramble bushes; also in verse 22), hidden among the reeds of the marsh.
Das Gebüsch bedeckt ihn mit seinem Schatten, und die Bachweiden umgeben ihn.
The lotus plants conceal him in their shade; the willows (note: Or poplars) of the brook surround him.
Siehe, er schluckt in sich den Strom und achtet's nicht groß; lässt sich dünken, er wolle den Jordan mit seinem Munde ausschöpfen.
Though the river rages, Behemoth is unafraid; he remains secure, though the Jordan surges to his mouth.
Fängt man ihn wohl vor seinen Augen und durchbohrt ihm mit Stricken seine Nase?
Can anyone capture him as he looks on, or pierce his nose with a snare?
