Darum sollen wir desto mehr wahrnehmen des Worts, das wir hören, damit wir nicht dahinfahren.
We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Denn so das Wort fest geworden ist, das durch die Engel geredet ist, und eine jegliche Übertretung und jeder Ungehorsam seinen rechten Lohn empfangen hat,
For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment,
wie wollen wir entfliehen, so wir eine solche Seligkeit nicht achten? welche, nachdem sie zuerst gepredigt ist durch den Herrn, auf uns gekommen ist durch die, so es gehört haben;
how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
und Gott hat ihr Zeugnis gegeben mit Zeichen, Wundern und mancherlei Kräften und mit Austeilung des heiligen Geistes nach seinem Willen.
and was affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.
Denn er hat nicht den Engeln untergetan die zukünftige Welt, davon wir reden.
For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking.
Es bezeugt aber einer an einem Ort und spricht: „Was ist der Mensch, dass du sein gedenkest, und des Menschen Sohn, dass du auf ihn achtest?
But somewhere it is testified in these words: “What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?
Du hast ihn eine kleine Zeit niedriger sein lassen denn die Engel; mit Preis und Ehre hast du ihn gekrönt und hast ihn gesetzt über die Werke deiner Hände;
You made him a little lower (note: Or a little while lower; also in verse 9) than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor (note: WH and TR include and set him over the works of Your hands.)
alles hast du unter seine Füße getan.” In dem, dass er ihm alles hat untergetan, hat er nichts gelassen, das ihm nicht untertan sei; jetzt aber sehen wir noch nicht, dass ihm alles untertan sei.
and placed everything under his feet (note: Psalm 8:4–6 (see also LXX)).” When God subjected all things to him, He left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him.
Den aber, der eine kleine Zeit niedriger gewesen ist als die Engel, Jesum, sehen wir durchs Leiden des Todes gekrönt mit Preis und Ehre, auf dass er von Gottes Gnaden für alle den Tod schmeckte.
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
Denn es ziemte dem, um deswillen alle Dinge sind und durch den alle Dinge sind, der da viel Kinder hat zur Herrlichkeit geführt, dass er den Herzog der Seligkeit durch Leiden vollkommen machte.
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author (note: Or pioneer or founder) of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Sintemal sie alle von einem kommen, beide, der da heiligt und die da geheiligt werden. Darum schämt er sich auch nicht, sie Brüder zu heißen,
For both the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers.
und spricht: „Ich will verkündigen deinen Namen meinen Brüdern und mitten in der Gemeinde dir lobsingen.”
He says: “I will proclaim Your name to My brothers; I will sing Your praises in the assembly.”
Und abermals: „Ich will mein Vertrauen auf ihn setzen.” Und abermals: „Siehe da, ich und die Kinder, welche mir Gott gegeben hat.”
And again: “I will put My trust in Him (note: Isaiah 8:17).” And once again: “Here am I, and the children God has given Me (note: Isaiah 8:18).”
Nachdem nun die Kinder Fleisch und Blut haben, ist er dessen gleichermaßen teilhaftig geworden, auf dass er durch den Tod die Macht nehme dem, der des Todes Gewalt hatte, das ist dem Teufel,
Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil,
und erlöste die, so durch Furcht des Todes im ganzen Leben Knechte sein mussten.
and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.
Denn er nimmt sich ja nicht der Engel an, sondern des Samens Abrahams nimmt er sich an.
For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of Abraham.
Daher musste er in allen Dingen seinen Brüdern gleich werden, auf dass er barmherzig würde und ein treuer Hoherpriester vor Gott, zu versöhnen die Sünden des Volks.
For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make atonement (note: Or to make propitiation) for the sins of the people.
Denn worin er gelitten hat und versucht ist, kann er helfen denen, die versucht werden.
Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
