Nachdem vorzeiten Gott manchmal und mancherleiweise geredet hat zu den Vätern durch die Propheten,
On many past occasions and in many different ways, God spoke to our fathers through the prophets.
hat er am letzten in diesen Tagen zu uns geredet durch den Sohn, welchen er gesetzt hat zum Erben über alles, durch welchen er auch die Welt gemacht hat;
But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe (note: Or the world; literally the ages).
welcher, sintemal er ist der Glanz seiner Herrlichkeit und das Ebenbild seines Wesens und trägt alle Dinge mit seinem kräftigen Wort und hat gemacht die Reinigung unsrer Sünden durch sich selbst, hat er sich gesetzt zu der Rechten der Majestät in der Höhe
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
und ist so viel besser geworden denn die Engel, so viel höher der Name ist, den er vor ihnen ererbt hat.
So He became as far superior to the angels as the name He has inherited is excellent beyond theirs.
Denn zu welchem Engel hat er jemals gesagt: „Du bist mein lieber Sohn, heute habe ich dich gezeugt”? und abermals: „Ich werde sein Vater sein, und er wird mein Sohn sein”?
For to which of the angels did God ever say: “You are My Son (note: 2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chronicles 17:13); today I have become Your Father”? Or again: “I will be His Father, and He will be My Son”?
Und abermals, da er einführt den Erstgeborenen in die Welt, spricht er: „Und es sollen ihn alle Engel Gottes anbeten.”
And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all God’s angels worship Him (note: Deuteronomy 32:43 (see DSS and LXX)).”
Von den Engeln spricht er zwar: „Er macht seine Engel zu Winden und seine Diener zu Feuerflammen”,
Now about the angels He says: “He makes His angels winds, His servants flames of fire (note: Psalm 104:4 (see also LXX)).”
aber von dem Sohn: „Gott, dein Stuhl währt von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit; das Zepter deines Reichs ist ein richtiges Zepter.
But about the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever, and justice is the scepter of Your kingdom.
Du hast geliebt die Gerechtigkeit und gehasst die Ungerechtigkeit; darum hat dich, o Gott, gesalbt dein Gott mit dem Öl der Freuden über deine Genossen.”
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You above Your companions with the oil of joy (note: Psalm 45:6–7).”
Und: „Du, Herr, hast von Anfang die Erde gegründet, und die Himmel sind deiner Hände Werk.
And: “In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
Sie werden vergehen, du aber wirst bleiben. Und sie werden alle veralten wie ein Kleid;
They will perish, but You remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
und wie ein Gewand wirst du sie wandeln, und sie werden sich verwandeln. Du aber bist derselbe, und deine Jahre werden nicht aufhören.”
You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment (note: BYZ and TR do not include like a garment.) they will be changed; but You remain the same, and Your years will never end (note: Psalm 102:25–27).”
Zu welchem Engel aber hat er jemals gesagt: „Setze dich zu meiner Rechten, bis ich lege deine Feinde zum Schemel deiner Füße”?
Yet to which of the angels did God ever say: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet (note: Psalm 110:1)”?
Sind sie nicht allzumal dienstbare Geister, ausgesandt zum Dienst um derer willen, die ererben sollen die Seligkeit?
Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
