Voici le commandement, les lois et les ordonnances que Yahweh, votre Dieu, a ordonné de vous enseigner, pour que vous les mettiez en pratique dans le pays où vous allez passer pour en prendre possession,
These are the commandments and statutes and ordinances that the LORD your God has instructed me to teach you to follow in the land that you are about to enter and possess,
afin que tu craignes Yahweh, ton Dieu, toi, ton fils et le fils de ton fils, en observant, tous les jours de ta vie, toutes ses lois et tous ses commandements que je te prescris, et afin que tes jours soient prolongés.
so that you and your children and grandchildren may fear the LORD your God all the days of your lives by keeping all His statutes and commandments that I give you, and so that your days may be prolonged.
Tu les écouteras, Israël, et tu auras soin de les mettre en pratique, afin que tu sois heureux et que vous multipliiez beaucoup, comme te l'a dit Yahweh, le Dieu de tes pères, dans un pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
Hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe them, so that you may prosper and multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
Ecoute, Israël : Yahweh, notre Dieu, est seul Yahweh.
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is One (note: Or The LORD our God is One LORD or The LORD is our God, the LORD is One or The LORD is our God, the LORD alone; cited in Mark 12:29).
Tu aimeras Yahweh, ton Dieu, de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ta force.
And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength (note: Cited in Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30, and Luke 10:27).
Et ces commandements que je te donne aujourd'hui, seront dans ton cœur.
These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts.
Tu les inculqueras à tes enfants, et tu en parleras quand tu seras dans ta maison, quand tu iras en voyage, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras.
And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Tu les attacheras sur ta main pour te servir de signe, et ils seront comme un frontal entre tes yeux.
Tie them as reminders on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
Tu les écriras sur les poteaux de ta maison et sur tes portes.
Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.
Lorsque Yahweh, ton Dieu, t'aura fait entrer dans le pays qu'il a juré à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob, de te donner : grandes et bonnes villes que tu n'as pas bâties,
And when the LORD your God brings you into the land He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that He would give you—a land with great and splendid cities that you did not build,
maisons pleines de toutes sortes de biens que tu n'as pas remplies, citernes que tu n'as pas creusées, vignes et oliviers que tu n'as pas plantés ; lorsque tu mangeras et te rassasieras,
with houses full of every good thing with which you did not fill them, with wells that you did not dig, and with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant—and when you eat and are satisfied,
garde-toi d'oublier Yahweh, qui t'a fait sortir du pays d'Egypte, de la maison de servitude.
be careful not to forget the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Tu craindras Yahweh ton Dieu, tu le serviras et tu jureras par son nom.
Fear the LORD your God, serve Him only, and take your oaths in His name (note: Or serve Him, and take your oaths only in His name; cited in Matthew 4:10 and Luke 4:8).
Vous n'irez point après d'autres dieux, d'entre les dieux des peuples, qui seront autour de vous.
Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you.
Car Yahweh, ton Dieu, qui est au milieu de toi, est un Dieu jaloux ; la colère de Yahweh, ton Dieu, s'enflammerait contre toi, et il t'exterminerait de dessus la terre.
For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God. Otherwise the anger of the LORD your God will be kindled against you, and He will wipe you off the face of the earth.
Vous ne tenterez point Yahweh, votre Dieu, comme vous l'avez tenté à Massah.
Do not test the LORD your God as you tested Him at Massah (note: Massah means testing; see Exodus 17:7; cited in Matthew 4:7 and Luke 4:12.).
Mais vous observerez avec soin les commandements de Yahweh, votre Dieu, ses préceptes et ses lois qu'il t'a prescrites.
You are to diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God and the testimonies and statutes He has given you.
Tu feras ce qui est droit et bon aux yeux de Yahweh, afin que tu sois heureux, que tu entres, pour le posséder, dans le bon pays que Yahweh a promis par serment à tes pères,
Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, so that it may be well with you and that you may enter and possess the good land that the LORD your God swore to give your fathers,
lorsqu'il aura chassé tous tes ennemis devant toi comme Yahweh l'a dit.
driving out all your enemies before you, as the LORD has said.
Lorsque ton fils t'interrogera un jour en disant : « Qu'est-ce que ces commandements, ces lois et ces ordonnances que Yahweh, notre Dieu, vous a prescrits ? »
In the future, when your son asks, “What is the meaning of the decrees and statutes and ordinances that the LORD our God has commanded you?”
tu diras à ton fils : « Nous étions esclaves de Pharaon, en Egypte, et Yahweh nous a fait sortir de l'Egypte par sa main puissante.
then you are to tell him, “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
Yahweh a opéré, sous nos yeux, des miracles et des prodiges grands et terribles contre l'Egypte, contre Pharaon et contre toute sa maison ;
Before our eyes the LORD inflicted great and devastating signs and wonders on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his household.
et il nous a fait sortir de là, pour nous amener dans le pays qu'il avait promis par serment à nos pères.
But He brought us out from there to lead us in and give us the land that He had sworn to our fathers.
Yahweh nous a commandé de mettre en pratique toutes ces lois et de craindre Yahweh, notre Dieu, afin que nous soyons toujours heureux et qu'il nous conserve en vie, comme il le fait aujourd'hui.
And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes and to fear the LORD our God, that we may always be prosperous and preserved, as we are to this day.
Et ce sera pour nous la justice, si nous prenons garde à pratiquer tous ces préceptes en présence de Yahweh, notre Dieu, comme il nous l'a ordonné. »
And if we are careful to observe every one of these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us, then that will be our righteousness.”
