Und Mose rief das ganze Israel und sprach zu ihnen; Ihr habt gesehen alles, was der HErr getan hat in Ägypten vor euren Augen dem Pharao mit allen seinen Knechten und seinem ganzen Lande,
These are the words of the covenant that the LORD commanded Moses to make with the Israelites in the land of Moab, in addition to the covenant He had made with them at Horeb (note: That is, Mount Sinai, or possibly a mountain in the range containing Mount Sinai).
die großen Versuchungen, die deine Augen gesehen haben, dass es große Zeichen und Wunder waren.
Moses summoned all Israel and proclaimed to them, “You have seen with your own eyes everything the LORD did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials, and to all his land.
Und der HErr hat euch bis auf diesen heutigen Tag noch nicht gegeben ein Herz, das verständig wäre, Augen, die da sähen, und Ohren, die da hörten.
You saw with your own eyes the great trials, and those miraculous signs and wonders.
Er hat euch vierzig Jahre in der Wüste lassen wandeln: eure Kleider sind an euch nicht veraltet, und dein Schuh ist nicht veraltet an deinen Füßen;
Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a mind to understand, eyes to see, or ears to hear.
ihr habt kein Brot gegessen und keinen Wein getrunken noch starkes Getränk, auf dass du wissest, dass ich der HErr, euer Gott, bin.
For forty years I led you in the wilderness, yet your clothes and sandals did not wear out.
Und da ihr kamt an diesen Ort, zog aus der König Sihon zu Hesbon und der König Og von Basan uns entgegen, mit uns zu streiten; und wir haben sie geschlagen
You ate no bread and drank no wine or strong drink, so that you might know that I am the LORD your God.
und ihr Land eingenommen und zum Erbteil gegeben den Rubenitern und Gaditern und dem halben Stamm der Manassiter.
When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out against us in battle, but we defeated them.
So haltet nun die Worte dieses Bundes und tut darnach, auf dass ihr weise handeln möget in allem eurem Tun.
We took their land and gave it as an inheritance to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.
Ihr stehet heute alle vor dem HErrn, eurem Gott, die Obersten eurer Stämme, eure Ältesten, eure Amtleute, ein jeder Mann in Israel,
So keep and follow the words of this covenant, that you may prosper in all you do.
eure Kinder, eure Weiber, dein Fremdling, der in deinem Lager ist (beide, dein Holzhauer und dein Wasserschöpfer),
All of you are standing today before the LORD your God—you leaders of tribes (note: LXX and Syriac; Hebrew you leaders, tribes), elders, officials, and all the men of Israel,
dass du tretest in den Bund des HErrn, deines Gottes, und in den Eid, den der HErr, dein Gott, heute mit dir macht,
your children and wives, and the foreigners in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water—
auf dass er dich heute ihm zum Volk aufrichte und er dein Gott sei, wie er dir verheißen hat und wie er deinen Vätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen hat.
so that you may enter into the covenant of the LORD your God, which He is making with you today, and into His oath,
denn ich mache diesen Bund und diesen Eid nicht mit euch allein,
and so that He may establish you today as His people, and He may be your God as He promised you and as He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
sondern sowohl mit euch, die ihr heute hier seid und mit uns stehet vor dem HErrn, unsrem Gott, als auch mit denen, die heute nicht mit uns sind.
I am making this covenant and this oath not only with you,
Denn ihr wisst, wie wir in Ägyptenland gewohnt haben und mitten durch die Heiden gezogen sind, durch welche ihr zoget,
but also with those who are standing here with us today in the presence of the LORD our God, as well as with those who are not here today.
und saht ihre Greuel und ihre Götzen, Holz und Stein, Silber und Gold, die bei ihnen waren.
For you yourselves know how we lived in the land of Egypt and how we passed through the nations on the way here.
dass nicht vielleicht ein Mann oder ein Weib oder ein Geschlecht oder ein Stamm unter euch sei, des Herz heute sich von dem HErrn, unsrem Gott, gewandt habe, dass er hingehe und diene den Göttern dieser Völker und werde vielleicht eine Wurzel unter euch, die da Galle und Wermut trage,
You saw the abominations and idols among them made of wood and stone, of silver and gold.
und ob er schon höre die Worte dieses Fluches, dennoch sich segne in seinem Herzen und spreche: Es geht mir wohl, dieweil ich wandle, wie es mein Herz dünkt, auf dass die Trunkenen mit den Durstigen dahinfahren!
Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations. Make sure there is no root among you that bears such poisonous and bitter fruit (note: See Hebrews 12:15),
Da wird der HErr dem nicht gnädig sein; sondern dann wird sein Zorn und Eifer rauchen über solchen Mann und werden sich auf ihn legen alle Flüche, die in diesem Buch geschrieben sind; und der HErr wird seinen Namen austilgen unter dem Himmel
because when such a person hears the words of this oath (note: Or curse), he invokes a blessing on himself, saying, ‘I will have peace, even though I walk in the stubbornness of my own heart.’ This will bring disaster on the watered land as well as the dry.
und wird ihn absondern zum Unglück aus allen Stämmen Israels, laut aller Flüche des Bundes, der in dem Buch dieses Gesetzes geschrieben ist.
The LORD will never be willing to forgive him. Instead, His anger and jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse written in this book will fall upon him. The LORD will blot out his name from under heaven
So werden dann sagen die Nachkommen eurer Kinder, die nach euch aufkommen werden, und die Fremden, die aus fernen Landen kommen, wenn sie die Plagen dieses Landes sehen und die Krankheiten, womit sie der HErr beladen hat
and single him out from all the tribes of Israel for disaster, according to all the curses of the covenant written in this Book of the Law.
(dass er all ihr Land mit Schwefel und Salz verbrannt hat, dass es nicht besät werden kann noch etwas wächst noch Kraut darin aufgeht, gleich wie Sodom und Gomorra, Adama und Zeboim umgekehrt sind, die der HErr in seinem Zorn und Grimm umgekehrt hat),
Then the generation to come—your sons who follow you and the foreigner who comes from a distant land—will see the plagues of the land and the sicknesses the LORD has inflicted on it.
so werden alle Völker sagen: Warum hat der HErr diesem Lande also getan? Was ist das für ein so großer und grimmiger Zorn?
All its soil will be a burning waste of sulfur and salt, unsown and unproductive, with no plant growing on it, just like the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His fierce anger.
So wird man sagen: Darum dass sie den Bund des HErrn, des Gottes ihrer Väter, verlassen haben, den er mit ihnen machte, da er sie aus Ägyptenland führte,
So all the nations will ask, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?’
und sind hingegangen und haben andern Göttern gedient und sie angebetet (solche Götter, die sie nicht kennen und die er ihnen nicht verordnet hat),
And the people will answer, ‘It is because they abandoned the covenant of the LORD, the God of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.
darum ist des HErrn Zorn ergrimmt über dies Land, dass er über sie hat kommen lassen alle Flüche, die in diesem Buch geschrieben stehen;
They went and served other gods, and they worshiped gods they had not known—gods that the LORD had not given to them.
und der HErr hat sie aus ihrem Lande gestoßen mit großem Zorn, Grimm und Ungnade und hat sie in ein ander Land geworfen, wie es steht heutigestages.
Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against this land, and He brought upon it every curse written in this book.
Das Geheimnis ist des HErrn, unsres Gottes; was aber offenbart ist, das ist unser und unsrer Kinder ewiglich, dass wir tun sollen alle Worte dieses Gesetzes.
The LORD uprooted them from their land in His anger, rage, and great wrath, and He cast them into another land, where they are today.’
