Je t'adjure devant Dieu et devant le Christ Jésus, qui doit juger les vivants et les morts, et par son apparition et son règne,
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom:
prêche la parole, insiste à temps et à contretemps, reprends, menace, exhorte, avec une entière patience et toujours en instruisant.
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and encourage with every form of patient instruction.
Car un temps viendra où les hommes ne supporteront plus la saine doctrine ; mais ils se donneront une foule de docteurs, suivant leurs convoitises et avides de ce qui peut chatouiller leurs oreilles ;
For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires.
ils les fermeront à la vérité pour les ouvrir à des fables.
So they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
Mais toi, sois circonspect en toutes choses, endure la souffrance, fais l'œuvre d'un prédicateur de l'Evangile, sois tout entier à ton ministère.
But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
Car, pour moi, je sers déjà de libation, et le moment de mon départ est proche.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
J'ai combattu le bon combat, j'ai achevé ma course, j'ai gardé la foi ;
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
il ne me reste plus qu'à recevoir la couronne de justice, que me donnera en ce jour-là le Seigneur, le juste Juge, et non seulement à moi, mais à tous ceux qui auront aimé son avènement.
From now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but to all who crave His appearing.
Tâche de me rejoindre au plus tôt ; car Démas, m'a quitté par amour pour le siècle présent, et il est parti pour Thessalonique ;
Make every effort to come to me quickly,

because Demas, in his love of this world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is useful to me in the ministry.

When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and my scrolls, especially the parchments.

Alexander the coppersmith did great harm to me. The Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
Toi aussi, tiens-toi en garde contre lui, car il a fait une forte opposition à notre prédication.
You too should beware of him, for he has vigorously opposed our message.
Personne ne m'a assisté dans ma première défense ; tous m'ont abandonné : que cela ne leur soit point imputé !
At my first defense, no one stood with me, but everyone deserted me. May it not be charged against them.
Cependant, le Seigneur m'a assisté et m'a fortifié afin que la parole fût pleinement annoncée par moi et entendue de toutes les nations ; et j'ai été délivré de la gueule du lion.
But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed, and all the Gentiles would hear it. So I was delivered from the mouth of the lion.
Le Seigneur me délivrera de toute œuvre mauvaise, et il me sauvera en me faisant entrer dans son royaume céleste. A lui soit la gloire aux siècles des siècles ! Amen !
And the Lord will rescue me from every evil action and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
