Aber der Zukunft halben unsres Herrn Jesu Christi und unsrer Versammlung zu ihm bitten wir euch, liebe Brüder,
Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to Him, we ask you, brothers,
dass ihr euch nicht bald bewegen lasset von eurem Sinn noch erschrecken, weder durch Geist noch durch Wort noch durch Brief, als von uns gesandt, dass der Tag Christi vorhanden sei.
not to be easily disconcerted or alarmed by any spirit or message or letter seeming to be from us, alleging that the Day of the Lord has already come.
Lasset euch niemand verführen in keinerlei Weise; denn er kommt nicht, es sei denn, dass zuvor der Abfall komme und offenbart werde der Mensch der Sünde, das Kind des Verderbens,
Let no one deceive you in any way, for it will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness—the son of destruction—is revealed.
der da ist der Widersacher und sich überhebt über alles, was Gott oder Gottesdienst heißt, also dass er sich setzt in den Tempel Gottes als ein Gott und gibt sich aus, er sei Gott.
He will oppose and exalt himself above every so-called god or object of worship. So he will seat himself in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
Gedenket ihr nicht daran, dass ich euch solches sagte, da ich noch bei euch war?
Do you not remember that I told you these things while I was still with you?
Und was es noch aufhält, wisset ihr, dass er offenbart werde zu seiner Zeit.
And you know what is now restraining him, so that he may be revealed at the proper time.
Denn es regt sich bereits das Geheimnis der Bosheit, nur dass, der es jetzt aufhält, muss hinweggetan werden;
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.
und alsdann wird der Boshafte offenbart werden, welchen der Herr umbringen wird mit dem Geist seines Mundes und durch die Erscheinung seiner Zukunft ihm ein Ende machen,
And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival.
ihm, dessen Zukunft geschieht nach der Wirkung des Satans mit allerlei lügenhaftigen Kräften und Zeichen und Wundern
The coming of the lawless one will be accompanied by the working of Satan, with every kind of power, sign, and false wonder,
und mit allerlei Verführung zur Ungerechtigkeit unter denen, die verloren werden, dafür dass sie die Liebe zur Wahrheit nicht haben angenommen, auf dass sie selig würden.
and with every wicked deception directed against those who are perishing, because they refused the love of the truth that would have saved them.
Darum wird ihnen Gott kräftige Irrtümer senden, dass sie glauben der Lüge,
For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie,
auf dass gerichtet werden alle, die der Wahrheit nicht glauben, sondern haben Lust an der Ungerechtigkeit.
in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.
Wir aber sollen Gott danken allezeit um euch, von dem Herrn geliebte Brüder, dass euch Gott erwählt hat von Anfang zur Seligkeit, in der Heiligung des Geistes und im Glauben der Wahrheit,
But we should always thank God for you, brothers who are loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.
darein er euch berufen hat durch unser Evangelium zum herrlichen Eigentum unsres Herrn Jesu Christi.
To this He called you through our gospel, so that you may share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So stehet nun, liebe Brüder, und haltet an den Satzungen, in denen ihr gelehrt seid, es sei durch unser Wort oder Brief.
Therefore, brothers, stand firm and cling to the traditions we taught you, whether by speech or by letter.
Er aber, unser Herr Jesus Christus, und Gott, unser Vater, der uns hat geliebt und uns gegeben einen ewigen Trost und eine gute Hoffnung durch Gnade,
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope,
der ermahne eure Herzen und stärke euch in allerlei Lehre und gutem Werk.
encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed.
