καὶ ἤγγισαν αἱ ἡμέραι Δαυιδ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπεκρίνατο Σαλωμὼν υἱῷ αὐτοῦ λέγων
As the time drew near for David to die, he charged his son Solomon,
Ἐγώ εἰμι πορεύομαι ἐν ὁδῷ πάσης τῆς γῆς· καὶ ἰσχύσεις καὶ ἔσῃ εἰς ἄνδρα.
“I am about to go the way of all the earth. So be strong and prove yourself a man.
καὶ φυλάξεις τὴν φυλακὴν κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ σου τοῦ πορεύεσθαι ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ φυλάσσειν τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ δικαιώματα καὶ τὰ κρίματα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν νόμῳ Μωυσέως, ἵνα συνίῃς ἃ ποιήσεις κατὰ πάντα, ὅσα ἂν ἐντείλωμαί σοι.
And keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in His ways and to keep His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
ἵνα στήσῃ Κύριος τὸν λόγον αὐτοῦ, ὃν ἐλάλησεν λέγων Ἐὰν φυλάξωσιν οἱ υἱοί σου τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτῶν πορεύεσθαι ἐνώπιον ἐμοῦ ἐν ἀληθείᾳ ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ αὐτῶν, λέγων Οὐκ ἐξολεθρευθήσεταί σοι ἀνὴρ ἐπάνωθεν θρόνου Ἰσραήλ.
and so that the LORD may fulfill His promise to me: ‘If your descendants take heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
καί γε σὺ ἔγνως ὅσα ἐποίησέν μοι Ἰωὰβ υἱὸς Σαρουιας, ὅσα ἐποίησεν τοῖς δυσὶν ἄρχουσιν τῶν δυνάμεων Ἰσραήλ, τῷ Ἀβεννὴρ υἱῷ Νὴρ καὶ τῷ Ἀμεσσαιὰ υἱῷ Ἰεθὲρ, καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτοὺς καὶ ἔταξεν τὰ αἵματα πολέμου ἐν εἰρήνῃ αὐτοῦ τῇ ἐν τῇ ὀσφύι αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐν τῷ ὑποδήματι αὐτοῦ τῷ ἐν τῷ ποδὶ αὐτοῦ.
Moreover, you know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether (note: Jether is a variant of Ithra; also in verse 32; see 2 Samuel 17:25.), the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to avenge the blood of war. He stained with the blood of war the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet (note: Hebrew; LXX He stained with innocent blood the belt around my waist and the sandals on my feet.).
καὶ ποιήσεις κατὰ τὴν σοφίαν σου καὶ οὐ κατάξεις τὴν πολιὰν αὐτοῦ ἐν εἰρήνῃ εἰς ᾅδου.
So act according to your wisdom, and do not let his gray head go down to Sheol in peace.
καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Βερζελλεὶ τοῦ Γαλααδίτου ποιήσεις ἔλεος, καὶ ἔσονται ἐν τοῖς ἐσθίουσιν τὴν τράπεζάν σου, ὅτι οὕτως ἤγγισάν μοι ἐν τῷ με ἀποδιδράσκειν ἀπὸ προσώπου Ἀβεσσαλὼμ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου.
But show loving devotion (note: Forms of the Hebrew chesed are translated here and in most cases throughout the Scriptures as loving devotion; the range of meaning includes love, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and mercy, as well as loyalty to a covenant.) to the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be among those who eat at your table, because they stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.
καὶ ἰδοὺ μετὰ σοῦ Σεμεεὶ υἱὸς Γηρα υἱὸς τοῦ Ἰεμενεὶ ἐκ Βααθουρείμ, καὶ αὐτὸς κατηράσατό με κατάραν ὀδυνηρὰν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ, ᾗ ἐπορευόμην εἰς παρεμβολάς, καὶ αὐτὸς κατέβη εἰς ἀπαντήν μου εἰς τὸν Ἰορδάνην, καὶ ὤμοσα αὐτῷ ἐν κυρίῳ λέγων Εἰ θανατώσω σε ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ.
Keep an eye on Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim who is with you. He called down bitter curses against me on the day I went to Mahanaim, but when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD: ‘I will never put you to the sword.’
καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀθῳώσῃς αὐτόν, ὅτι ἀνὴρ σοφὸς εἶ σὺ καὶ γνώσῃ ἃ ποιήσεις αὐτῷ· καὶ κατάξεις τὴν πολιὰν αὐτοῦ ἐν αἵματι εἰς ᾅδου.
Now therefore, do not hold him guiltless, for you are a wise man. You know what you ought to do to him to bring his gray head down to Sheol in blood.”
καὶ ἐκοιμήθη Δαυεὶδ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ὲπάφη ἐν πόλει Δαυείδ.
Then David rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David.
καὶ αἱ ἡμέραι ἃς ἐβασίλευσεν Δαυεὶδ ἑπὶ τὸν Ἰσραὴλ τεσσεράκοντα ἔτη· ἐν Χεβρὼν ἐβασίλευσεν ἔτη ἑπτά, καὶ ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ τριάκοντα τρία ἔτη.
The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
Καὶ Σαλωμὼν ἐκαθισεν ἐπὶ θρόνου Δαυεὶδ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἡτοιμάσθη ἡ βασιλεία αὐτοῦ σὐτοῦ σφόδρα.
So Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Ἀδωνείας πρὸς Βηρσάβεε μητέρα Σαλωμὼν καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῇ· ἡ δὲ εἶπεν Εἰρήνη ἡ εἴσοδός σου; καὶ εἶπεν Εἰρήνη·
Now Adonijah son of Haggith went to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, and she asked, “Do you come in peace?” “Yes, in peace,” he replied.
λόγος μοι πρὸς σέ. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Λάλησον.
Then he said, “I have something to tell you.” “Say it,” she answered.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Σὺ οἶδας ὅτι ἐμοὶ ἦν ἡ βασιλεία καὶ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἔθετο πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ εἰς βασιλέα· καὶ ἐστράφη ἡ βασιλεία καὶ ἐγενήθη τῷ ἀδελφῷ μου, ὅτι παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὐτῷ.
“You know that the kingship was mine,” he said. “All Israel expected that I should reign, but the kingship has turned to my brother, for it has come to him from the LORD.
καὶ νῦν αἴτησιν μίαν ἐγὼ αἰτοῦμαι παρὰ σοῦ, μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Βηρσάβεε Λάλει.
So now I have just one request of you; do not deny me.” “State your request,” she told him.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Εἰπὸν δὴ πρὸς Σαλωμὼν τὸν βασιλέα, ὅτι οὐκ ἀποστρέψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ σοῦ· καὶ κώσει μοι τὴν Ἀβεισὰ τὴν Σωμανεῖτιν εἰς γυναῖκα.
Adonijah replied, “Please speak to King Solomon, since he will not turn you down. Let him give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife.”
καὶ εἶπεν Βηρσάβεε. Καλῶς, ἐγὼ λαλήσω περὶ σοῦ τῷ βασιλεῖ.
“Very well,” Bathsheba replied. “I will speak to the king for you.”
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Βηρσάβεε πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Σαλωμὼν λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ περὶ Ἀδωνειού· καὶ ἐξανέστη ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς ἀπαντὴν αὐτῇ καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτήν, καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐπὶ τοῦ θρόνου· καὶ ἐτέθη θρόνος τῇ μητρὶ τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐκ δεξιῶν αὐτοῦ.
So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king stood up to greet her, bowed to her, and sat down on his throne. Then the king had a throne brought for his mother, who sat down at his right hand.
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Αἴτησιν μίαν ἐγὼ μικρὰν αἰτοῦμαι παρὰ σοῦ, μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ βασιλεύς Αἴτησαι, μήτηρ ἐμή, καὶ οὐκ ἀποστέψω σε.
“I have just one small request of you,” she said. “Do not deny me.” “Make your request, my mother,” the king replied, “for I will not deny you.”
καὶ εἶπεν Δοθήτω δὴ Ἀβεισὰ ἡ Σωμανεῖτις τῷ Ἀδωνειὰ τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου εἰς γυναῖκα.
So Bathsheba said, “Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to your brother Adonijah as his wife.”
καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Σαλωμὼν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ εἶπεν τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ Καὶ ἵνα τί σὺ ᾔτησαι τὴν Ἀβεισὰ τῷ Ἀδωνειά; καὶ αἴτησαι αὐτῷ τὴν βασιλείαν· ὅτι οὗτος ἀδελφός μου ὁ μέγας ὑπὲρ ἐμέ, καὶ αὐτῷ Ἀβιαθὰρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ αὐτῷ Ἰωὰβ ὁ υἱὸς Σαρουίας ὁ ἀρχιστράτηγος ἑταῖρος.
King Solomon answered his mother, “Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my older brother, you might as well request the kingdom for him and for Abiathar the priest and for Joab son of Zeruiah!”
καὶ ὤμοσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμὼν κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου λέγων Τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη, ὅτι κατὰ τῆς ψυχῆς αὐτοῦ ἐλάλησεν Ἀδωνειὰ τὸν λόγον τοῦτον.
Then King Solomon swore by the LORD: “May God punish me, and ever so severely, if Adonijah has not made this request at the expense of his life.
καὶ νῦν ζῇ Κύριος ὅς ἠτοίμασέν με καὶ ἔθετὸ με ἐπι τὸν θρόνον Δαυεὶδ τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐποίησέν μοι οἶκον καθὼς ἐλάλησεν Κύριος, ὅτι σήμεπον θανατωθήσεται Ἀδωνειά.
And now, as surely as the LORD lives—the One who established me, who set me on the throne of my father David, and who founded for me a dynasty as He promised—surely Adonijah shall be put to death today!”
καὶ ἐξαπέστειλεν Σαλωμὼν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐν χειρὶ Βαναιοὺ υἱοῦ Ἰωδᾶε καὶ ἀνεῖλεν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἀδωνέας ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ.
So King Solomon gave orders to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he struck down Adonijah and he died.
καὶ τῷ Ἀβιαθὰρ τῷ ἱερεῖ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεύς Ἀπότρεχε σὺ εἰς Ἀναθὼθ εἰς ἀγρόν σου, ὅτε ἀνὴρ θανάτου εἶ σὺ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τάύτῃ· καὶ οὐ θανατώσω σε, ὅτι ἦρας τὴν κιβωτὸν τῆς διαθήκης Κυρίου ἐνώπιον τοῦ πατρός μου, καὶ ὅτι ἀκαουχήθης ἐν ἅπασιν οἷς ἐκακουχήθη ὁ πατήρ μου.
Then the king said to Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”
καὶ ἐξέβαλεν Σαλωμὼν τὸν Ἀβιαθὰρ τοῦ μὴ εἶναι ἑρέα τοῦ κυρίου, πληρωθῆναι τὸ ἡῆμα Κυρίου ὅ ἀλάλησεν ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ἠλεὶ ἐν Σηλώμ.
So Solomon banished Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD and thus fulfilled the word that the LORD had spoken at Shiloh against the house of Eli.
καὶ ἡ ἀκοὴ ἦλθεν ἕως Ἰωὰβ τοῦ υἱοῦ Σαρουίας, ὅτι Ἰωὰβ ἦν κεκλικὼς ὀπίσω Ἀδωνειά, καὶ ὀπίσω Ἀβεσσαλὼμ οὐκ ἔκλινεν· καὶ ἔφυγεν Ἰωὰβ εἰς τὸ σκήωμα τοῦ κυρίου καὶ κατέσχεν τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου.
When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah but not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Σαλωμὼν λέγοντες ὅτι Ἔφυγεν Ἰωάβ εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ κυρίου, ακὶ ἰδοὺ κατέχει τῶν κεράτων τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου. καὶ ἀπεστειλεν Σαλωμὼν πρὸς Ἰωὰβ λέγων Τί γέγονέν σοι ὅτι πέφευγας εἰς τὸ θυσιαστήριον; καὶ εἶπεν Ἰωάβ Ὅτι ἐφοβήθην ἀπὸ προσώπου σου, καὶ ἔφυγον πρὸς Κύριον. καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ Σαλωμὼν τὸν Βαναιοὺ υἱὸν Ἰωδᾶε λέγων Πορεύου καὶ ἄνελε αὐτόν, καὶ θάψον αὐτόν.
It was reported to King Solomon: “Joab has fled to the tent of the LORD and is now beside the altar.” So Solomon sent Benaiah son of Jehoiada, saying, “Go, strike him down!”
καὶ ἦθεν Βαναιοὺ υἱὸς Ἰωδᾶε εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ κυρίου καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Τάδε λέγει ὁ βασιλεύς Ἔξελθε· καὶ εἶπεν Ἰωάβ Οὐκ ἐκπορεύομαι, ὅτι ὧδε ἀποθανοῦμαι· καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν Βαναίας υἱὸς Ἰωδᾶε καὶ εἶπεν τῷ βασιλεῖ λέγων Τάδε λελάληκεν Ἰωὰβ καὶ τάδε ἀποκέκριταί μοι.
And Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, “The king says, ‘Come out!’” But Joab replied, “No, I will die here.” So Benaiah relayed the message to the king, saying, “This is how Joab answered me.”
καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ βασιλεύς Πορεύου καὶ ποίησον αὐτῷ καθὼς εἴρηκεν, καὶ ἄνελε αὐτὸν καὶ θάφεις αὐτόν· καὶ ἐξαρεῖς αήμεπον τὸ αἷμα ὅ δωρεὰν ἐξεχεεν ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρὸς μου.
And the king replied, “Do just as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so remove from me and from the house of my father the innocent blood that Joab shed.
καὶ απέστρεψεν Κύροις τὸ αἷμα τῆς ἀδικίας αὐτοῦ εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἀπήωτησεν τοῖς δυςὶν ἀνθρώποις τοῖς δικαίοις καὶ ἀγαθοῖς ὑπὲρ αὐτὸν καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ, καὶ ὁ πατήρ μου Δαυεὶδ οὐκ ἔγνω τὸ αἷμα αὐτῶν, τὸν Ἀβεννὴρ υἱὸν Νὴρ ἀρχιστράτηγον Ἰσραὴλ καὶ τὸν Ἀμεσσὰ τὸν Ἰέθερ ἀρχιστράτηγον Ἰούδα.
The LORD will bring his bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
καὶ ἐπεστράφη τὰ αἵματα αὐτοῦ εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς κεφαλὴν τοῦ σπέρματος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· καὶ τῷ Δαυεὶδ καὶ τῷ σπέρματι αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ θρόνῳ αὐτοῦ γένοιτο εἰρήνη ἕως αἰῶνος παρὰ Κυρίου.
Their blood will come back upon the heads of Joab and his descendants forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD forever.”
καὶ ἀπήντησεν Ἰωδᾶε τῷ Ἰωὰβ καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν αὐτόν· καὶ ἔθαψεν αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ.
So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up, struck down Joab, and killed him. He was buried at his own home in the wilderness.
καὶ ἔδωκεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν βαναιοὺ υἱὸν Ἰωδᾶε ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν στρατηγίαν· καὶ ἡ βασιλεία κατωρθοῦτο ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ. καὶ Σαδὼκ τὸν ἱερέα, ἔδωκεν αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς εἰς ἱερέα πρῶτον ἀντὶ ἀβιαθάρ.
And the king appointed Benaiah son of Jehoiada in Joab’s place over the army, and he appointed Zadok the priest in Abiathar’s place.
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸν Σεμεεὶ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Οἰκοδόμησον οἶκον σεαυτῷ ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ κάθου ἐκεῖ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεύςῃ ἐκεῖθεν οὐδαμοῦ.
Then the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Build a house for yourself in Jerusalem and live there, but do not go anywhere else.
καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέμᾳ τῆς ἐξόδου σου καὶ διαβήσῃ τὸν χειμάρρουν Κεδρών, γινώσκων γνώςῃ ὅτι θανάτῳ ἀποθανῇ· τὸ αἶμά σου ἔσται ἐπὶ τὴν κεθαλήν σου. καὶ ὥρκισεν αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ.
On the day you go out and cross the Kidron Valley, know for sure that you will die; your blood will be on your own head.”
καὶ εἶπεν Σεμεεὶ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Ἀγαθὸν τὸ ῥῆμα ὃ ἐλάλησας, κύριέ μου βασιλεῦ. οὕτω ποιησει ὁ δοῦλός σου. καὶ ἐκάθισεν Σεμεεὶ ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ τρία ἔτη.
“The sentence is fair,” Shimei replied. “Your servant will do as my lord the king has spoken.” And Shimei lived in Jerusalem for a long time.
καὶ ἐγενήθη μετὰ τὰ τρία ἔτη καὶ ἀπέδρασαν δύο δοῦλοι τοῦ Σεμεεὶ πρὸς Ἀγχοὺς υἱὸν Ἀμηςὰ βασιλέα Γέθ· καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Σεμεεὶ λέγοντες Ἰδοὺ οἱ δοῦλοί σου ἐν Γέθ.
After three years, however, two of Shimei’s slaves ran away to Achish son of Maacah (note: Maacah is a variant of Maoch; see 1 Samuel 27:2.), king of Gath. And Shimei was told, “Look, your slaves are in Gath.”
καὶ ἀνέστη Σεμεεὶ καὶ ἐπέσαξε τὴν ὄνον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς Γεθ πρὸς Ἀγχούς, τοῦ ἐκζητῆσαι τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπορεύθη Σεμεεὶ καὶ ἤγαγεν τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ ἐκ Γέθ.
So Shimei saddled his donkey and set out to Achish at Gath in search of his slaves, and he brought them back from Gath.
καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τῷ Σαλωμὼν λέγοντες ὅτι Ἐπορεύθη Σεμεεὶ ἐξ Ἰερουσαλὴμ εἰς Γὲθ καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν τοὺς δούλους αὐτοῦ.
When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath and had returned,
καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν Σεμεεὶ καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν Οὐχὶ ὤρκισά σε κατὰ τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἐπεμαρτυράμην σοι λέγων Ἐν ᾖ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ ἐξέλθῃς ἐξ Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ πορευθῇς εἰς δεξιὰ ἢ εἰς ἀριστερά, γινώσκων γνώςῃ ὅτι θανάτῳ ἀποθανῇ;
the king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Did I not make you swear by the LORD and warn you, ‘On the day you leave and go elsewhere, know for sure that you will die’? And you told me, ‘The sentence is fair; I will comply.’
καὶ τί ὅτι οὐκ ἐφύλαξας τὸν ὅρκον Κυρίου καὶ τὴν ἐντολὴν ἣν ἐνετειλάμην κατὰ σοῦ;
So why have you not kept your oath to the LORD and the command that I gave you?”
καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς πρὸς Σεμεει Σὺ οιδας πᾶσαν τὴν κακίαν σου ἣν ἔγνω ἡ καρδία σου, ἃ ἐποίησας τῷ Δαυεὶδ τῷ πατρί μου· καὶ ἀνταπέδκεν Κύριος τὴν κακίαν σου εἰς κεφαλήν σου.
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
καὶ ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμὼν νὐλογημένος, καὶ ὁ θρόνος Δαυεὶδ ἔσται ἕτοιμος ἐνώπιον Κυρίου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα.
But King Solomon will be blessed and David’s throne will remain secure before the LORD forever.”
καὶ ἐνετείλατο ὁ βασιλεὺς Σαλωμὼν τῷ Βαναιὰ υἱῷ Ἰωδᾶε, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν καὶ ἀνέλεν αὐτόν.
Then the king commanded Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down, and he died. Thus the kingdom was firmly established in the hand of Solomon.
