2:1
Ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ· Ῥουβὴν, Συμεών, Λευεί. Ἰουδά, Ἰσσαχάρ, Ζαβουλὼν,
These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2:2
Δάν, Ἰωσήφ, Βενιαμείν, Νεφθαλεί, Γάδ, Ἀσήρ.
Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
2:3
Υἱοὶ Ἰούδα· Ἤρ, Αὐνάν, Σηλών. τρεῖς· ἐγεννήθησαν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῆς θυγατρὸς Αὔας τῆς Χαναανείτιδος. καὶ ἦν Ἢρ ὁ πρωτότοκος Ἰούδα πονηρὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου, καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν·
The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death.
2:4
καὶ Θαμὰρ ἡ νύμφη αὐτοῦ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Φάρες καὶ τὸν Ζάρα. πάντες υἱοὶ Ἰούδα πέντε.
Tamar, Judah’s daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.
2:5
υἱρὶ Φἀρες· Ἁρκὼν καὶ Ἰεμουήλ.
The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul.
2:6
καὶ υἱοὶ Ζαρὰ· Ζαμβρεὶ καὶ Αἰθὰμ καὶ Αἱμουὰν καὶ Χαλκὰ καὶ Δάρα. πάντες πέντε.
The sons of Zerah: Zimri (note: Zimri is a variant of Zabdi; see Joshua 7:1.), Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara (note: Most Hebrew manuscripts; many Hebrew manuscripts, some LXX manuscripts, and Syriac (see also 1 Kings 4:31) Darda)—five in all.
2:7
καὶ υἱοὶ Χαρμεί Ἀχὰρ ὁ ἐμποδοστάτης Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἠθέτησεν εἰς τὸ ἀνάθεμα.
The son (note: Hebrew sons) of Carmi: Achar (note: Achar means troubler; also called Achan in Joshua 7 and Joshua 22.), who brought trouble upon Israel by violating the ban on devoted things.
2:8
καὶ υοὶ Αἰθάμ· Ζαρειά.
The son of Ethan: Azariah.
2:9
καὶυἱοὶ Ἐσερὼν οἳ ἐτέχθησαν αὐτῷ· ὁ Ἰραμεὴλ καὶ ὁ Ῥὰμ καὶ ὁ Χαβὲλ καὶ Ἀράμ.
The sons who were born to Hezron: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb (note: Hebrew Chelubai, a variant of Caleb; see verse 18.).
καὶ Ἀρρὰν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀμειναδάβ, καὶ Ἀμειναδὰβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναασσὼν ἄρχοντα τοῦ οἴκου Ἰούδα.
Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of the descendants of Judah.
καὶ Ναασσὼν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλμών, καὶ Σαλμὼν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βόος.
Nahshon was the father of Salmon (note: LXX (see also Ruth 4:20–21); Hebrew Salma; twice in this verse), and Salmon was the father of Boaz.
καὶ Βόος ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ὠβήδ, καὶ Ὠβὴδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεσσαί,
Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.
καὶ Ἰεσσαὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν πρωτότοκον αὐτοῦ Ἐλιάβ· Ἀμειναδὰβ ὁ δεύτερος, Σαμαὰ ὁ τρίτος,
Jesse was the father of Eliab his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea (note: Shimea is a variant of Shammah, Shimeah, and Shimei; see 1 Samuel 16:9, 2 Samuel 13:3, and 2 Samuel 21:21.) third,
Ναθαναὴλ ὁ τέταρτος, Ζαδδαὶ ὁ πέμπτος,
Nethanel fourth, Raddai fifth,
Ἄσομ ὁ ἕκτος, Δαυεὶδ ὁ ἔβδομος.
Ozem sixth, and David seventh.
καὶ ἀδελφὴ αὐτῶν Σαρουιά· καὶ υἱοὶ Σαρουιά· Ἀβεισὰ καὶ Ἰωὰβ καὶ Ἀσαήλ, τρεῖς.
Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the three sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
καὶ Ἀβειγαία ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀμεσσάβ· καὶ πατὴρ Ἀμεσσὰβ Ἰόθορ ὁ Ἰσμαηλείτης.
Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether (note: Jether is a variant of Ithra; see 2 Samuel 17:25.) the Ishmaelite.
Καὶ Χαλὲβ υἱὸς Ἐσερὼν ἐγέννησεν τὴν Γαζουβὰ γυναῖκα καὶ τὴν Ἐλιώθ. καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ αὐτῆς· Ἰωάσαρ καὶ Ἰασοὺβ καὶ Ορνά.
Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. These were the sons of Azubah: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
καὶ ἀπέθανεν Γαζουβά, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἑαυτῷ Χαλὲβ τὴν Ἐφράθ, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ὥρ.
When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath (note: Ephrath is a variant of Ephrathah; see verse 50.), who bore to him Hur.
καὶ Ὣρ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Οὐρεί, καὶ Οὐρεὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βεσελεήλ.
Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσῆλθεν Ἐσερὼν πρὸς τὴν θυγατέρα Μαχεὶρ πατρὸς Γαλαὰδ, καὶ οὗτος ἔλαβεν αὐτήν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἑξήκοντα ἦν ἐτῶν, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Σερούχ.
Later, Hezron slept with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. He had married her when he was sixty years old, and she bore to him Segub.
καὶ Σεροὺχ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰαείρ. καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ εἵκοσι τρεῖς πόλεις ἐν τῇ Γαλαὰδ.
Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.
καὶ ἔλαβεν Γεδσοὺρ καὶ Ἀρρὰν τὰς κώμας Σαεὶρ ἐξ αὐτῶν, τὴν Καναὰθ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς, ἐξήκοντα πόλεις· πᾶσαι αὗται υἱῶν Μαχεὶρ πατρὸς Γαλαάδ.
But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth- (note: Or the villages of Jair)jair, along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages. All these were descendants of Machir the father of Gilead.
καὶ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Ἑσερὼν ἦλθεν Χαλὲβ εἰς Ἐφράθα· καὶ ἡ γυνὴ Ἐσερὼν Ἀβιά, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἀσχὼ πατέρα Θεκῶε.
After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah bore (note: Or After Hezron died, Caleb had relations with Ephrathah, the wife of Hezron his father, and she bore; see also LXX.) to him Ashhur the father (note: Or the founder; also in verses 42, 45, 49, and possibly elsewhere) of Tekoa.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ἰραμεὴλ πρωτοτόκου Ἐσερὼν ὁ πρωτότοκος Ῥάν, καὶ Βαναιὰ καὶ Ἀραιὰ καὶ Ἀμβρὰμ καὶ Ἄκαν ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ.
The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron: Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
καὶ ἦν γυνὴ ἑτέρα τῷ Ἰερεμεήλ, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῇ Ἀταρά· αὕτη ἐστὶν μήτηρ Ὀζόμ.
Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah, who was the mother of Onam.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ἀρὰμ πρωτοτόκου Ἰερεμαὴλ Μάας καὶ Ἰαμεὶν καὶ Ἀκορ.
The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ὀζὸμ Σαμοὶ καὶ Ἰαδᾶε, καὶ υἱοὶ Σαμοι Ναδὰβ καὶ Ἀβεισούρ.
The sons of Onam: Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai: Nadab and Abishur.
καὶ ὄνομα τῆς γυναικὸς Ἀβεισοὺρ Ἀβειχαία, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἀχαβὰρ καὶ τὸν Μωήλ.
Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, and she bore to him Ahban and Molid.
υἱοὶ Ναδάβ· Ἀλσάλαδ καὶ Ἐφράιμ· καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σάλαδ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα.
The sons of Nadab: Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children.
καὶ υἱὰρὶ Ἐφράιμ Ἰσεμιήλ, καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰσεμιὴλ Σωσάν, καὶ υἱοὶ. Σωσὰν Ἀχαί.
The son (note: Hebrew sons; three times in this verse) of Appaim: Ishi. The son of Ishi: Sheshan. The son of Sheshan: Ahlai.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰδουδά· Ἀχεισαμάς, Ἰέθερ, Ἰωναθάν· καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἰέθερ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα.
The sons of Jada the brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰωναθάν· Θάλεθ καὶ Φζάμ. οὗτοι ῆσαν υἱρὶ Ῥαμεήλ.
The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
καὶ οὐκ ἦσαν τῷ Σωσὰμ υἱοὶ ἀλλ ἢ θυγατέρες· καὶ τῷ Σωσὰμ παῖς Αἰγύπτιος, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἰωχήλ.
Sheshan had no sons, but only daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
καὶ ἔδωκεν Σωσὰν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ τῷ Ἰωχὴλ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς γυναῖκα, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἐθθεἰ.
Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore to him Attai.
καὶ Ἐθθεὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναθάν, καὶ Ναθαν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ζαβέδ,
Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan was the father of Zabad,
καὶ Ζαβὲδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀφαμήλ, καὶ Ἀφαμὴλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν ἀβήδ,
Zabad was the father of Ephlal, Ephlal was the father of Obed,
καὶ Ὠβὴδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰησοῦν, καὶ Ἰησοῦς ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀζαρίαν,
Obed was the father of Jehu, Jehu was the father of Azariah,
καὶ Ἀζαριὰ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Χέλλης, καὶ Χέλλης ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐμάς,
Azariah was the father of Helez, Helez was the father of Elasah,
καὶ Ἐμὰς ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σοσομαί, καὶ Σοσομαὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλούμ,
Elasah was the father of Sismai, Sismai was the father of Shallum,
καὶ Σαλοὺμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰεχεμείαν, καὶ Ἰεχεμείας ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐλεισαμά.
Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
καὶ υἱοὶ Χαλὲβ ἀδελφοῦ Ἰερεμεήλ· Μαρεισὰ ὁ πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ, οὗτος πατὴρ Ζείφ· καὶ υἱοὶ Μαρεισὰ πατρὸς Χεβρών.
The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha (note: Hebrew; LXX Mareshah) his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and Mareshah his second son, who was the father of Hebron.
καὶ υἱοὶ Χεβρών· Κόρεε καὶ Θαποὺς καὶ Ῥέκομ καὶ Σεμάα.
The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
καὶ Σεμάα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ῥάμεε πατέρα Ἰακλάν, καὶ Ἰεκλάν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαμί.
Shema was the father of Raham the father of Jorkeam, and Rekem was the father of Shammai.
καὶ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Μεών, καὶ Μεὼν πατὴρ Γεδσούρ.
The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth-zur.
καὶ Γαιφαὴλ παλλακὴ Χαλὲβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἀρρὰν καὶ τὸν Ἰωκὰν καὶ τὸν Γεζοῦε. καὶ Ἀρρὰν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γεζοῦε.
Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰησοῦ· Ῥάγεμ καὶ Ἰωαθὰμ καὶ Σωγὰρ καὶ Φάλεκ καὶ Γαιφὰ καὶ Σάγαε.
The sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
καὶ ἡ παλλακὴ Χαλὲβ Μωχὰ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σάβερ καὶ τὸν Θαράμ.
Caleb’s concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.
καὶ ἐγέννησεν Σάγαε πατέρα Μαρμηνὰ καὶ τὸν Σαοὺ πατέρα Μαχαβηνὰ καὶ πατέρα Γαιβάλ· καὶ θυγάτηρ Χαλὲβ Ἀσχά.
She was also the mother of Shaaph father of Madmannah, and of Sheva father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Acsah.
οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱρὶ Χαλέβ. υἱοὶ Ὣρ πρωτοτόκου Ἐφράθα· Σωβὰρ πατὴρ Καριαθιαρεὶμ,
These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons (note: LXX and Vulgate; Hebrew son) of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah (note: Ephrathah is a variant of Ephrath; see verse 19.): Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim,
Σαλωμὼν πατὴρ Βαιθά, Λαμμὼν πατὴρ Βαιθαλάεμ. Ἀρεὶμ πατὴρ Βαιθγαιδών.
Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ τῷ Σωβὰλ πατρὶ Καριαθιαρείμ, Αἱώ, Εσειρά, Μωναιώ,
These were the descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim: Haroeh, half the Manahathites,
Ἐμοσφεώς, πόλεις Ἰαείρ· Ἀἱθαλεὶμ καὶ Μειφειθεὶμ καὶ Ἡσαμαθεὶμ καὶ Ἰμασαραείμ· ἐκ τούτων ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ Σαραθαῖρι καὶ υἱοὶ Ἐσθάαμ.
and the clans of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.
υἱοὶ Σαλωμών· Βαιθλάεμ, Μετωφαθεἰ, Ἀταρὼθ οἴκου Ἰωὰβ καὶ ἥμισυ τῆς Μαλαθεἰ, Ἠσαρεί,
The descendants of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,
πατριωὶ γραμμάτων κατοικοῦντες Γαμές, Ἀργαθιείμ, Σαμαθιείμ, Σωκαθιείμ· οὗτοι οἱ Κειναῖοι οἱ ἐλθόντες ἐκ Μεσημὰ πατρὸς οἴκου Ῥηχά.
and the clans of the scribes (note: Or of the Sopherites) who lived at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab (note: Or the father of Beth-rekab or the founder of the house of Rechab).
