“Do not call me Naomi (note: Naomi means pleasant.),” she replied. “Call me Mara (note: Mara means bitter.), because the Almighty (note: Hebrew Shaddai; also in verse 21) has dealt quite bitterly with me.
וַתֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔ן אַל־ תִּקְרֶ֥אנָה לִ֖י נָעֳמִ֑י קְרֶ֤אןָ לִי֙ מָרָ֔א כִּי־ הֵמַ֥ר שַׁדַּ֛י לִ֖י מְאֹֽד׃
