Etant donc justifiés par la foi, nous avons la paix avec Dieu par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
Therefore, since we have (note: Or let us have) been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
à qui nous devons d'avoir eu accès par la foi à cette grâce dans laquelle nous demeurons fermes, et de nous glorifier dans l'espérance de la gloire de Dieu.
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand. And we rejoice (note: Or exult; also in verses 3 and 11) in the hope of the glory of God.
Bien plus, nous nous glorifions même dans les tribulations, sachant que la tribulation produit la constance,
Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
la constance une vertu éprouvée, et la vertu éprouvée l'espérance.
perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Or, l'espérance ne trompe point, parce que l'amour de Dieu est répandu dans nos cœurs par l'Esprit-Saint qui nous a été donné.
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

For at just the right time, while we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Jésus-Christ est mort pour nous. A plus forte raison donc, maintenant que nous sommes justifiés dans son sang, serons-nous sauvés par lui de la colère.
Therefore, since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from wrath through Him!
Car si, lorsque nous étions ennemis, nous avons été réconciliés avec Dieu par la mort de son Fils, à plus forte raison, étant réconciliés, serons-nous sauvés par sa vie.
For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!
Bien plus, nous nous glorifions même en Dieu par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ, par qui maintenant nous avons obtenu la réconciliation.
Not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Ainsi donc, comme par un seul homme le péché est entré dans le monde, et par le péché la mort... Et ainsi la mort a passé dans tous les hommes parce que tous ont péché.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.
Car jusqu'à la Loi le péché était dans le monde ; or le péché n'est pas imputé lorsqu'il n'y a point de loi.
For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
Cependant la mort a régné depuis Adam jusqu'à Moïse, même sur ceux qui n'avaient pas péché, par une transgression semblable à celle d'Adam, lequel est la figure de celui qui devait venir.
Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.
Mais il n'en est pas du don gratuit comme de la faute ; car si, par la faute d'un seul, tous les hommes sont morts, à plus forte raison la grâce de Dieu et le don se sont, par la grâce d'un seul homme, Jésus-Christ, abondamment répandus sur tous les hommes.
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!
Et il n'en est pas du don comme des suites du péché d'un seul ; car le jugement a été porté à cause d'une seule faute pour la condamnation, tandis que le don amène la justification de beaucoup de fautes.
Again, the gift is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment that followed one sin brought condemnation, but the gift that followed many trespasses brought justification.
En effet, si, par la faute d'un seul, la mort a régné par ce seul homme, à plus forte raison ceux qui reçoivent l'abondance de la grâce et du don de la justice règneront-ils dans la vie par le seul Jésus-Christ.
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!
Ainsi donc, comme par la faute d'un seul la condamnation est venue sur tous les hommes, ainsi par la justice d'un seul vient à tous les hommes la justification qui donne la vie.
So then, just as one trespass brought condemnation for all men, so also one act of righteousness brought justification and life for all men.
De même en effet, que par la désobéissance d'un seul homme, tous ont été constitués pécheurs, de même par l'obéissance d'un seul tous seront constitués justes.
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
La loi est intervenue pour faire abonder la faute ; mais là où le péché a abondé, la grâce a surabondé,
The law came in so that the trespass would increase; but where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
afin que, comme le péché a régné par la mort, ainsi la grâce régnât par la justice pour la vie éternelle, par Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur.
so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
