ἄχρι γὰρ νόμου ἁμαρτία ἦν ἐν κόσμῳ ἁμαρτία δὲ οὐκ ἐλλογεῖται μὴ ὄντος νόμου
For sin was in the world before the law was given; but sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
