Frères, le vœu de mon cœur et ma prière à Dieu pour eux, c'est qu'ils soient sauvés.
Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is for their salvation.
Car je leur rends le témoignage qu'ils ont du zèle pour Dieu, mais c'est un zèle mal éclairé.
For I testify about them that they are zealous for God, but not on the basis of knowledge.
Ne connaissant pas la justice de Dieu, et cherchant à établir leur propre justice, ils ne se sont pas soumis à la justice de Dieu.
Because they were ignorant of God’s righteousness and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.
C'est qu'en effet le fin de la Loi c'est le Christ, pour la justification de tout homme qui croit.
For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes.
En effet, Moïse dit de la justice qui vient de la Loi : " L'homme qui mettra ces choses en pratique vivra par elles. "
For concerning the righteousness that is by the law, Moses writes: “The man who does these things will live by them (note: Leviticus 18:5; see also Ezekiel 20:11, 13, and 21.).”
Mais voici comment parle la justice qui vient de la foi : " Ne dis pas dans ton cœur : Qui montera au Ciel " Ce qui signifie en faire descendre le Christ ;
But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven (note: Deuteronomy 30:12)?’ (that is, to bring Christ down)
ou : " Qui descendra dans l'abîme ? " Ce qui signifie faire remonter le Christ d'entre les morts.
or, ‘Who will descend into the Abyss (note: See Deuteronomy 30:13.)?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).”
Que dit-elle donc ? " Près de toi est la parole, dans ta bouche et dans ton cœur. " C'est la parole de la foi que nous prêchons.
But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart (note: Deuteronomy 30:14),” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:
Si tu confesses de ta bouche Jésus comme Seigneur, et si tu crois dans ton cœur que Dieu l'a ressuscité des morts tu seras sauvé.
that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Car c'est en croyant de cœur qu'on parvient à la justice, et c'est en confessant de bouche qu'on parvient au salut,
For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.
selon ce que dit l'Ecriture : " Quiconque croit en lui ne sera pas confondu. "
It is just as the Scripture says: “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame (note: Isaiah 28:16 (see also LXX)).”
Il n'y a pas de différence entre le Juif et le Gentil, parce que le même Christ est le Seigneur de tous, étant riche envers tous ceux qui l'invoquent.
For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and gives richly to all who call on Him,
Car " quiconque invoquera le nom du Seigneur sera sauvé. "
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (note: Joel 2:32).”
Comment donc invoquera-t-on celui en qui on n'a pas encore cru ? Et comment croira-t-on en celui dont on n'a pas entendu parler ? Et comment en entendra-t-on parler s'il n'y a pas de prédicateur ?
How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?
Et comment seront-ils prédicateurs, s'ils ne sont pas envoyés ? selon qu'il est écrit : " Qu'ils sont beaux les pieds de ceux qui annoncent le bonheur ! "
And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Mais tous n'ont pas obéi à l'Evangile ; car Isaïe dit : " Seigneur, qui a cru à notre prédication ? "
But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message (note: Isaiah 53:1)?”
Ainsi la foi vient de la prédication entendue, et la prédication se fait par la parole de Dieu.
Consequently, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Mais je demande : n'ont-ils pas entendu ? Au contraire : " Leur voix est allée par toute la terre, et leurs paroles jusqu'aux extrémités du monde. "
But I ask, did they not hear? Indeed they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world (note: Psalm 19:4 (see also LXX)).”
Je demande encore : Israël n'en a-t-il pas eu connaissance ? Moïse le premier a dit : " J'exciterai votre jalousie contre une nation qui n'en est pas une ; j'exciterai votre colère contre une nation sans intelligence. "
I ask instead, did Israel not understand? First, Moses says: “I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation without understanding (note: Deuteronomy 32:21 (see also LXX)).”
Et Isaïe pousse la hardiesse jusqu'à dire : " J'ai été trouvé par ceux qui ne me cherchaient pas, je me suis manifesté à ceux qui ne me demandaient pas. "
And Isaiah boldly says: “I was found by those who did not seek Me (note: Isaiah 65:1); I revealed Myself to those who did not ask for Me.”
Mais au sujet d'Israël il dit : " J'ai tendu mes mains tout le jour vers un peuple incroyant et rebelle. "
But as for Israel he says: “All day long I have held out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people (note: Isaiah 65:2 (see also LXX)).”
