Und ich sah einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde; denn der erste Himmel und die erste Erde verging, und das Meer ist nicht mehr.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth (note: See Isaiah 65:17 and Isaiah 66:22 (see also LXX).), for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
Und ich, Johannes, sah die heilige Stadt, das neue Jerusalem, von Gott aus dem Himmel herabfahren, bereitet als eine geschmückte Braut ihrem Mann.
I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Und ich hörte eine große Stimme von dem Stuhl, die sprach: Siehe da, die Hütte Gottes bei den Menschen! und er wird bei ihnen wohnen, und sie werden sein Volk sein, und er selbst, Gott mit ihnen, wird ihr Gott sein;
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God (note: SBL, NE, WH, and BYZ God Himself will be with them.) is with man, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God.
und Gott wird abwischen alle Tränen von ihren Augen, und der Tod wird nicht mehr sein, noch Leid noch Geschrei noch Schmerz wird mehr sein; denn das Erste ist vergangen.
‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes (note: Isaiah 25:8.),’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Und der auf dem Stuhl saß, sprach: Siehe, ich mache alles neu! Und er spricht zu mir: Schreibe; denn diese Worte sind wahrhaftig und gewiss!
And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.”
Und er sprach zu mir: Es ist geschehen. Ich bin das A und das O, der Anfang und das Ende. Ich will den Durstigen geben von dem Brunnen des lebendigen Wassers umsonst.
And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life.
Wer überwindet, der wird es alles ererben, und ich werde sein Gott sein, und er wird mein Sohn sein.
The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.
Der Verzagten aber und Ungläubigen und Greulichen und Totschläger und Hurer und Zauberer und Abgöttischen und aller Lügner, deren Teil wird sein in dem Pfuhl, der mit Feuer und Schwefel brennt; das ist der andere Tod.
But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
Und es kam zu mir einer von den sieben Engeln, welche die sieben Schalen voll der letzten sieben Plagen hatten, und redete mit mir und sprach: Komm, ich will dir das Weib zeigen, die Braut des Lammes.
Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
Und er führte mich hin im Geist auf einen großen und hohen Berg und zeigte mir die große Stadt, das heilige Jerusalem, herniederfahren aus dem Himmel von Gott,
And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God,
die hatte die Herrlichkeit Gottes. Und ihr Licht war gleich dem alleredelsten Stein, einem hellen Jaspis.
shining with the glory of God. Its radiance was like a most precious jewel, like a jasper, as clear as crystal.
Und sie hatte eine große und hohe Mauer und hatte zwölf Tore und auf den Toren zwölf Engel, und Namen darauf geschrieben, nämlich der zwölf Geschlechter der Kinder Israel.
The city had a great and high wall with twelve gates inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, and twelve angels at the gates.
Vom Morgen drei Tore, von Mitternacht drei Tore, vom Mittag drei Tore, vom Abend drei Tore.
There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west.
Und die Mauer der Stadt hatte zwölf Grundsteine und auf ihnen Namen der zwölf Apostel des Lammes.
The wall of the city had twelve foundations bearing the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Und der mit mir redete, hatte ein goldenes Rohr, dass er die Stadt messen sollte und ihre Tore und Mauer.
The angel who spoke with me had a golden measuring rod to measure the city and its gates and walls.
Und die Stadt liegt viereckig, und ihre Länge ist so groß als die Breite. Und er maß die Stadt mit dem Rohr auf zwölftausend Feld Wegs. Die Länge und die Breite und die Höhe der Stadt sind gleich.
The city lies foursquare, with its width the same as its length. And he measured the city with the rod, and all its dimensions were equal—12,000 stadia (note: 12,000 stadia is approximately 1,380 miles or 2,220 kilometers.) in length and width and height.
Und er maß ihre Mauer, hundertvierundvierzig Ellen, nach Menschenmaß, das der Engel hat.
And he measured its wall to be 144 cubits (note: 144 cubits is approximately 216 feet or 65.8 meters. The measure could indicate either height or thickness.), by the human measure the angel was using.
Und der Bau ihrer Mauer war von Jaspis und die Stadt von lauterm Golde, gleich dem reinen Glase.
The wall was made of jasper, and the city itself of pure gold, as pure as glass.
Und die Grundsteine der Mauer um die Stadt waren geschmückt mit allerlei Edelgestein. Der erste Grund war ein Jaspis, der andere ein Saphir, der dritte ein Chalzedonier, der vierte ein Smaragd,
The foundations of the city walls were adorned with every kind of precious stone: The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
der fünfte ein Sardonyx, der sechste ein Sarder, der siebente ein Chrysolith, der achte ein Berill, der neunte ein Topas, der zehnte ein Chrysopras, der elfte ein Hyazinth, der zwölfte ein Amethyst.
the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
Und die zwölf Tore waren zwölf Perlen, und ein jeglich Tor war von einer Perle; und die Gassen der Stadt waren lauteres Gold wie ein durchscheinend Glas.
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, with each gate consisting of a single pearl. The main street of the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.
Und ich sah keinen Tempel darin; denn der Herr, der allmächtige Gott, ist ihr Tempel, und das Lamm.
But I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
Und die Stadt bedarf keiner Sonne noch des Mondes, dass sie scheinen; denn die Herrlichkeit Gottes erleuchtet sie, und ihre Leuchte ist das Lamm.
And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its lamp.
Und die Heiden, die da selig werden, wandeln in ihrem Licht; und die Könige auf Erden werden ihre Herrlichkeit in sie bringen.
By its light the nations will walk, and into it the kings of the earth will bring their glory (note: BYZ and TR include and honor.).
Und ihre Tore werden nicht verschlossen des Tages; denn da wird keine Nacht sein.
Its gates will never be shut at the end of the day, because there will be no night there.
Und man wird die Herrlichkeit und die Ehre der Heiden in sie bringen.
And into the city will be brought the glory and honor of the nations.
Und es wird nicht hineingehen irgend ein Gemeines und das da Greuel tut und Lüge, sondern die geschrieben sind in dem Lebensbuch des Lammes.
But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices an abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
