Psalms 89

Brenton's English Septuagint · Berean Standard Bible

A Prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our refuge in all generations.
90:1 A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations.
Before the mountains existed, and [before] the earth and the world were formed, even from age to age, Thou art.
90:2 Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
Turn not man back to [his] low place, whereas thou saidst, Return, ye sons of men?
90:3 You return man to dust, saying, “Return, O sons of mortals.”
For a thousand years in thy sight are as the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.
90:4 For in Your sight a thousand years are but a day that passes (note: See 2 Peter 3:8.), or a watch of the night.
Years shall be vanity to them: let the morning pass away as grass.
90:5 You sweep them away in their sleep; they are like the new grass of the morning—
In the morning let it flower, and pass away: in the evening let it droop, let it be withered and dried up.
90:6 in the morning it springs up new, but by evening it fades and withers.
For we have perished in thine anger, and in thy wrath we have been troubled.
90:7 For we are consumed by Your anger and terrified by Your wrath.
Thou hast set our transgressions before thee: our age is in the light of thy countenance.
90:8 You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence.
For all our days are gone, and we have passed away in thy wrath: our years have spun out their tale as a spider.
90:9 For all our days decline in Your fury; we finish our years with a sigh.
[As for] the days of our years, in them are seventy years; and if [men should be] in strength, eighty years: and the greater part of them would be labour and trouble; for weakness overtakes us, and we shall be chastened.
90:10 The length of our days is seventy years—or eighty if we are strong—yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Who knows the power of thy wrath?
90:11 Who knows the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear You are due.
and [who knows how] to number [his days] because of the fear of thy wrath? So manifest thy right hand, and those that are instructed in wisdom in the heart.
90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may present a heart of wisdom.
Return, O Lord, how long? and be intreated concerning thy servants.
90:13 Return, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on Your servants.
We have been satisfied in the morning with thy mercy; and we did exult and rejoice:
90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with Your loving devotion, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
let us rejoice in all our days, in return for the days wherein thou didst afflict us, the years wherein we saw evil.
90:15 Make us glad for as many days as You have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen evil.
And look upon thy servants, and upon thy works; and guide their children.
90:16 May Your work be shown to Your servants, and Your splendor to their children.
And let the brightness of the Lord our God be upon us: and do thou direct for us the works of our hands.
90:17 May the favor (note: Or beauty) of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish for us the work of our hands—yes, establish the work of our hands!
