Εἰς τὸ τέλος· τοῖς ἀλλοιωθησομένοις, ἔτι εἰς στηλογραφίαν
For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam (note: Miktam is probably a musical or liturgical term; used for Psalms 16 and 56–60.) of David, when Saul sent men to watch David’s house in order to kill him. Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise against me.
τῷ Δαυείδ, εἰς διδαχήν, ὁπότε ἐνεπύρισεν τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν Συρίας καὶ τὴν Συρίαν Σωβάλ, καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν Ἰωὰβ καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὴν φάραγγα τῶν ἁλῶν δώδεκα χιλιάδας.
Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of bloodshed.
Ὁ θεός, ἀπώσω ἡμᾶς καὶ καθεῖλες ἡμᾶς, ὑργίσθης καὶ οἰκτειρησας ἡμᾶς.
60:1
For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A Miktam (note: Miktam is probably a musical or liturgical term; used for Psalms 16 and 56–60.) of David for instruction. When he fought Aram-naharaim (note: That is, Mesopotamia; Aram-naharaim means Aram of the two rivers, likely the region between the Euphrates and Balih Rivers in northwestern Mesopotamia.) and Aram-zobah (note: That is, the land northeast of Damascus), and Joab returned and struck down 12,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. You have rejected us, O God; You have broken us; You have been angry; restore us!
συνέσεισας τὴν γῆν καὶ συνετάραξας αὐτήν· ἴασαι τὰ συντρίμματα αὐτῆς, ὅτι ἐσαλεύθησαν,
60:2
You have shaken the land and torn it open. Heal its fractures, for it is quaking.
ἔδειξας τῷ λαῷ σου σκληρά, ἐπότισας ἡμᾶς οἶνον κατανύξεως.
60:3
You have shown Your people hardship; we are staggered from the wine You made us drink.
ἔδξδωκας τοῖς φοβουμένοις σε σημείωσιν, τοῦ φυγεῖν ἀπὸ προσάπου τόξου. διάψαλμα.
60:4
You have raised a banner for those who fear You, that they may flee the bow (note: Or that it may be displayed because of truth). Selah
ὅπως ἂν ῥυσθῶσιν οἱ ἀγαπητοί σου, σῶσον τῇ δεξιᾷ σου καὶ ἐπάκουσόν μου.
60:5
Respond and save us with Your right hand, that Your beloved may be delivered.
ὁ θεὸς ἐλάλησεν ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ αὐτοῦ Ἀγαλλιάσομαι καὶ διαμεριῶ Σίκιμα, καὶ τὴν κοιλάδα τῶν σκηνῶν διαμετρήσω.
60:6
God has spoken from His sanctuary (note: Or in His holiness): “I will triumph! I will parcel out Shechem and apportion the Valley of Succoth.
ἐμός ἐστιν Γαλαάδ, καὶ ἐμός ἐστιν Μανασσή, καὶ Ἐφράιμ κραταίωσις τῆς κεφαλῆς μου· Ἰούδας βασιλεύς μου,
60:7
Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim is My helmet, Judah is My scepter.
Μωὰβ λέβης τῆς ἐλπίδος μου· ἐπὶ τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν ἐκτενῶ τὸ ὑπόδημά μου. ἐμοὶ ἀλλόφυλοι ὑπετάγησαν.
60:8
Moab is My washbasin; upon Edom I toss My sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph.”
τίς ἀπάξει με εἰς πόλιν περιοχῆς; τίς ὁδηγήσει με ἕως τῆς Ἰδουμαίας;
60:9
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
οὐχὶ σύ, ὁ θεός, ὁ ἀπωσάμενος ἡμᾶς; καὶ οὐχὶ ἐξελεύσῃ, ὁ θεός, ἐν ταῖς δυνάμεσιν ἡμῶν
60:10
Have You not rejected us, O God? Will You no longer march out, O God, with our armies?
δὸς ἡμῖν βοήθειαν ἐκ θλίψεως καὶ ματαία σωτηρία ἀνθρώπου.
60:11
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
ἐν δὲ τῷ θεῷ ποιήσομεν δύναμιν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἐξουδενώσει τοὺς θλίβοντας ἡμᾶς.
60:12
With God we will perform with valor, and He will trample our enemies.
