Louez l’Éternel!
Hallelujah! How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and lovely to praise Him!
Il compte le nombre des étoiles,
He determines the number of the stars; He calls them each by name.
Notre Seigneur est grand, puissant par sa force,
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.
L’Éternel soutient les malheureux,
The LORD sustains the humble, but casts the wicked to the ground.
Chantez à l’Éternel avec actions de grâces,
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music on the harp to our God,
Il couvre les cieux de nuages,
who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow on the hills.
Il donne la nourriture au bétail,
He provides food for the animals, and for the young ravens when they call.
Ce n’est pas dans la vigueur du cheval qu’il se complaît,
He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.
L’Éternel aime ceux qui le craignent,
The LORD is pleased with those who fear Him, who hope in His loving devotion.
Car il affermit les barres de tes portes,
For He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses the children within you.
Il rend la paix à ton territoire,
He makes peace at your borders; He fills you with the finest wheat.
Il envoie ses ordres sur la terre:
He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs swiftly.
Il donne la neige comme de la laine,
He spreads the snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes;
Il lance sa glace par morceaux;
He casts forth His hail like pebbles (note: Or like crumbs or like morsels). Who can withstand His icy blast?
Il envoie sa parole, et il les fond;
He sends forth His word and melts them; He unleashes His winds, and the waters flow.
Il révèle sa parole à Jacob,
He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and judgments to Israel.
Il n’a pas agi de même pour toutes les nations,
He has done this for no other nation; they do not know His judgments (note: MT; DSS and LXX He has not made known to them His judgments). Hallelujah!
