116:1
J’aime l’Éternel, car il entend
I love the LORD, for He has heard my voice—my appeal for mercy.
116:2
Car il a penché son oreille vers moi;
Because He has inclined His ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.
116:3
Les liens de la mort m’avaient environné,
The ropes of death entangled me; the anguish of Sheol overcame me; I was confronted by trouble and sorrow.
116:4
Mais j’invoquai le nom de l’Éternel:
Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, deliver my soul!”
116:5
L’Éternel est miséricordieux et juste,
The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
116:6
L’Éternel garde les simples;
The LORD preserves the simplehearted; I was helpless, and He saved me.
116:7
Mon âme, retourne à ton repos,
Return to your rest, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.
116:8
Oui, tu as délivré mon âme de la mort,
For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.
116:9
Je marcherai devant l’Éternel,
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
116:10
J’avais confiance, lorsque je disais: Je suis bien malheureux!
I believed, therefore I said (note: LXX therefore I have spoken; cited in 2 Corinthians 4:13), “I am greatly afflicted.”

Je disais dans mon angoisse:
In my alarm I said, “All men are liars!”

Comment rendrai-je à l’Éternel
How can I repay the LORD for all His goodness to me?
116:13
J’élèverai la coupe des délivrances,
I will lift the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.
116:14
J’accomplirai mes vœux envers l’Éternel,
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people.
116:15
Elle a du prix aux yeux de l’Éternel,
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.
116:16
Écoute-moi, ô Éternel! Car je suis ton serviteur,
Truly, O LORD, I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have broken my bonds.
116:17
Je t’offrirai un sacrifice d’actions de grâces,
I will offer to You a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
116:18
J’accomplirai mes vœux envers l’Éternel,
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people,
116:19
Dans les parvis de la maison de l’Éternel,
in the courts of the LORD’s house, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!
