Parallel

Psalms 115

Clementine Vulgate · Berean Standard Bible

Alleluja. Credidi, propter quod locutus sum ; ego autem humiliatus sum nimis.
Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your name be the glory, because of Your loving devotion, because of Your faithfulness.
Ego dixi in excessu meo : Omnis homo mendax.
Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
Quid retribuam Domino pro omnibus quæ retribuit mihi ?
Our God is in heaven; He does as He pleases.
Calicem salutaris accipiam, et nomen Domini invocabo.
Their idols are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
Vota mea Domino reddam coram omni populo ejus.
They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see;
Pretiosa in conspectu Domini mors sanctorum ejus.
they have ears, but cannot hear; they have noses, but cannot smell;
O Domine, quia ego servus tuus ; ego servus tuus, et filius ancillæ tuæ. Dirupisti vincula mea :
they have hands, but cannot feel; they have feet, but cannot walk; they cannot even clear their throats (note: Literally they cannot utter with their throat).
tibi sacrificabo hostiam laudis, et nomen Domini invocabo.
Those who make them become like them, as do all who trust in them.
Vota mea Domino reddam in conspectu omnis populi ejus ;
O Israel (note: MT; many Hebrew manuscripts, LXX, and Syriac O house of Israel), trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield.
in atriis domus Domini, in medio tui, Jerusalem.
O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD! He is their help and shield.
