Danket dem HErrn und prediget seinen Namen; verkündiget sein Tun unter den Völkern!
Give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the nations.
Singet von ihm und lobet ihn; redet von allen seinen Wundern!
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wonders.
Rühmet seinen heiligen Namen; es freue sich das Herz derer, die den HErrn suchen!
Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Fraget nach dem HErrn und nach seiner Macht, suchet sein Antlitz allewege!
Seek out the LORD and His strength; seek His face always.
Gedenket seiner Wunderwerke, die er getan hat, seiner Wunder und der Gerichte seines Mundes,
Remember the wonders He has done, His marvels, and the judgments He has pronounced,
ihr, der Same Abrahams, seines Knechtes, ihr Kinder Jakobs, seine Auserwählten!
O offspring of His servant Abraham, O sons of Jacob, His chosen ones.
Er ist der HErr, unser Gott; er richtet in aller Welt.
He is the LORD our God; His judgments carry throughout the earth.
Er gedenkt ewiglich an seinen Bund, des Wortes, das er verheißen hat auf tausend Geschlechter,
He remembers His covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—
den er gemacht hat mit Abraham, und des Eides mit Isaak;
the covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He swore to Isaac.
und stellte es Jakob zu einem Rechte und Israel zum ewigen Bunde
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant:
und sprach: „Dir will ich das Land Kanaan geben, das Los eures Erbes,”
“I will give you the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”
da sie wenig und gering waren und Fremdlinge darin.
When they were few in number, few indeed, and strangers in the land,
Und sie zogen von Volk zu Volk, von einem Königreiche zum andern Volk.
they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
Er ließ keinen Menschen ihnen Schaden tun und strafte Könige um ihretwillen.
He let no man oppress them; He rebuked kings on their behalf:
„Tastet meine Gesalbten nicht an und tut meinen Propheten kein Leid!”
“Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!”
Und er ließ Teuerung ins Land kommen und entzog allen Vorrat des Brots.
He called down famine on the land and cut off all their supplies (note: Hebrew staff) of food.
Er sandte einen Mann vor ihnen hin; Joseph ward zum Knecht verkauft.
He sent a man before them—Joseph, sold as a slave.
Sie zwangen seine Füße in den Stock, sein Leib musste in Eisen liegen,
They bruised his feet with shackles and placed his neck in irons,
bis dass sein Wort kam und die Rede des HErrn ihn durchläuterte.
until his prediction came true and the word of the LORD proved him right.
Da sandte der König hin und ließ ihn losgeben; der HErr über Völker hieß ihn herauslassen.
The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
Er setzte ihn zum Herrn über sein Haus, zum Herrscher über alle seine Güter,
He made him master of his household, ruler over all his substance,
dass er seine Fürsten unterwiese nach seiner Weise und seine Ältesten Weisheit lehrte.
to instruct (note: LXX and Syriac; MT to bind) his princes as he pleased and teach his elders wisdom.
Und Israel zog nach Ägypten, und Jakob ward ein Fremdling im Lande Hams.
Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
Und er ließ sein Volk sehr wachsen und machte sie mächtiger denn ihre Feinde.
And the LORD made His people very fruitful, more numerous than their foes,
Er verkehrte jener Herz, dass sie seinem Volk gram wurden und dachten, seine Knechte mit List zu dämpfen.
whose hearts He turned to hate His people, to conspire against His servants.
Er sandte seinen Knecht Mose, Aaron, den er hatte erwählt.
He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.
Dieselben taten seine Zeichen unter ihnen und seine Wunder im Lande Hams.
They performed His miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
Er ließ Finsternis kommen und machte es finster; und sie waren nicht ungehorsam seinen Worten.
He sent darkness, and it became dark—yet they defied His words (note: LXX and Syriac; Hebrew for had they not defied His words?).
Er verwandelte ihre Wasser in Blut und tötete ihre Fische.
He turned their waters to blood and caused their fish to die.
Ihr Land wimmelte Frösche heraus in den Kammern ihrer Könige.
Their land teemed with frogs, even in their royal chambers.
Er sprach: da kam Ungeziefer, Stechmücken in all ihr Gebiet.
He spoke, and insects swarmed—gnats throughout their country.
Er gab ihnen Hagel zum Regen, Feuerflammen in ihrem Lande
He gave them hail for rain, with lightning throughout their land.
und schlug ihre Weinstöcke und Feigenbäume und zerbrach die Bäume in ihrem Gebiet.
He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their country.
Er sprach: da kamen Heuschrecken und Käfer ohne Zahl.
He spoke, and the locusts came—young locusts without number.
Und sie fraßen alles Gras in ihrem Lande und fraßen die Früchte auf ihrem Felde.
They devoured every plant in their land and consumed the produce of their soil.
Er schlug alle Erstgeburt in Ägypten, alle Erstlinge ihrer Kraft.
Then He struck all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their vigor.
Und er führte sie aus mit Silber und Gold; und war kein Gebrechlicher unter ihren Stämmen.
He brought Israel out with silver and gold, and none among His tribes stumbled.
Ägypten ward froh, dass sie auszogen; denn ihre Furcht war auf sie gefallen.
Egypt was glad when they departed, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
Er breitete eine Wolke aus zur Decke und ein Feuer, des Nachts zu leuchten.
He spread a cloud as a covering and a fire to light up the night.
Sie baten: da ließ er Wachteln kommen; und er sättigte sie mit Himmelsbrot.
They asked, and He brought quail and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
Er öffnete den Felsen: da floß Wasser heraus, dass Bäche liefen in der dürren Wüste.
He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a river in the desert.
Denn er gedachte an sein heiliges Wort, das er Abraham, seinem Knechte, hatte geredet.
For He remembered His holy promise to Abraham His servant.
Also führte er sein Volk aus in Freuden und seine Auserwählten in Wonne
He brought forth His people with rejoicing, His chosen with shouts of joy.
und gab ihnen die Länder der Heiden, dass sie die Güter der Völker einnahmen,
He gave them the lands of the nations, that they might inherit the fruit of others’ labor,
auf dass sie halten sollen seine Rechte und seine Gesetze bewahren. Halleluja!
that they might keep His statutes and obey His laws. Hallelujah!
