Weiter, liebe Brüder, freuet euch in dem Herrn! dass ich euch immer einerlei schreibe, verdrießt mich nicht und macht euch desto gewisser.
Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you.
Sehet auf die Hunde, sehet auf die bösen Arbeiter, sehet auf die Zerschneidung!
Watch out for those dogs, those workers of evil, those mutilators of the flesh!
Denn wir sind die Beschneidung, die wir Gott im Geiste dienen und rühmen uns von Christo Jesu und verlassen uns nicht auf Fleisch,
For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh—
wiewohl ich auch habe, dass ich mich Fleisches rühmen könnte. So ein anderer sich dünken lässt, er könnte sich Fleisches rühmen, ich könnte es viel mehr:
though I myself could have such confidence. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:
der ich am achten Tag beschnitten bin, einer aus dem Volk von Israel, des Geschlechts Benjamin, ein Hebräer von Hebräern und nach dem Gesetz ein Pharisäer,
circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee;
nach dem Eifer ein Verfolger der Gemeinde, nach der Gerechtigkeit im Gesetz gewesen unsträflich.
as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to righteousness in the law, faultless.
Aber was mir Gewinn war, das habe ich um Christi willen für Schaden geachtet.
But whatever was gain to me I count as loss for the sake of Christ.
Ja, ich achte es noch alles für Schaden gegen die überschwengliche Erkenntnis Christi Jesu, meines Herrn, um welches willen ich alles habe für Schaden gerechnet, und achte es für Kot, auf dass ich Christum gewinne
More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ
und in ihm erfunden werde, dass ich nicht habe meine Gerechtigkeit, die aus dem Gesetz, sondern die durch den Glauben an Christum kommt, nämlich die Gerechtigkeit, die von Gott dem Glauben zugerechnet wird,
and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ (note: Or through the faithfulness of Christ), the righteousness from God on the basis of faith.
zu erkennen ihn und die Kraft seiner Auferstehung und die Gemeinschaft seiner Leiden, dass ich seinem Tode ähnlich werde,
I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death,
damit ich gelange zur Auferstehung der Toten.
and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Nicht, dass ich's schon ergriffen habe oder schon vollkommen sei; ich jage ihm aber nach, ob ich's auch ergreifen möchte, nachdem ich von Christo Jesu ergriffen bin.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
Meine Brüder, ich schätze mich selbst noch nicht, dass ich's ergriffen habe. Eines aber sage ich: Ich vergesse, was dahinten ist, und strecke mich zu dem, was da vorne ist,
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
und jage nach dem vorgesteckten Ziel, nach dem Kleinod, welches vorhält die himmlische Berufung Gottes in Christo Jesu.
I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.
Wie viele nun unser vollkommen sind, die lasset uns also gesinnt sein. Und solltet ihr sonst etwas halten, das lasset euch Gott offenbaren;
All of us who are mature should embrace this point of view. And if you think differently about some issue, God will reveal this to you as well.
doch soferne, dass wir nach derselben Regel, darin wir gekommen sind, wandeln und gleich gesinnt seien.
Nevertheless, we must live up to what we have already attained.
Folget mir, liebe Brüder, und sehet auf die, die also wandeln, wie ihr uns habt zum Vorbilde.
Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you.
Denn viele wandeln, von welchen ich euch oft gesagt habe, nun aber sage ich auch mit Weinen, dass sie sind die Feinde des Kreuzes Christi,
For as I have often told you before, and now say again even with tears: Many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.
welcher Ende ist die Verdammnis, welchen der Bauch ihr Gott ist, und deren Ehre zu Schanden wird, die irdisch gesinnt sind.
Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and their glory is in their shame. Their minds are set on earthly things.
Unser Wandel aber ist im Himmel, von dannen wir auch warten des Heilands Jesu Christi, des Herrn,
But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
welcher unsren nichtigen Leib verklären wird, dass er ähnlich werde seinem verklärten Leibe nach der Wirkung, mit der er kann auch alle Dinge sich untertänig machen.
who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.
