So a thousand men were recruited from each tribe of Israel—twelve thousand armed for war.

וַיִּמָּֽסְרוּ֙ מֵאַלְפֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶ֖לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֑ה שְׁנֵים־ עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֖לֶף חֲלוּצֵ֥י צָבָֽא׃
