When he had agreed with the labourers for a denarius* a day, he sent them into his vineyard. *
He agreed to pay them a denarius (note: A denarius was customarily a day’s wage for a laborer; similarly in verses 9, 10, and 13.) for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
