Εἰ δὲ ἐγνώκειτε τί ἐστιν, Ἔλεον θέλω καὶ οὐ θυσίαν, οὐκ ἂν κατεδικάσατε τοὺς ἀναιτίους.
If only you had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice (note: Hosea 6:6),’ you would not have condemned the innocent.
