“It shall be a statute to you forever: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and shall do no kind of work, whether native-born or a stranger who lives as a foreigner amongst you;
This is to be a permanent statute for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month, you shall humble yourselves (note: Or afflict your souls or deny yourselves; also in verse 31) and not do any work—whether the native or the foreigner who resides among you—
