S'étant mis en route, les cinq hommes arrivèrent à Laïs. Ils virent le peuple qui était dans cette ville, vivant en sécurité à la manière des Sidoniens, paisible et tranquille, et il n'y avait personne dans le pays qui, investi de l'autorité, les molestât en aucune manière ; ils étaient éloignés des Sidoniens, et n'avaient affaire avec personne.
So the five men departed and came to Laish, where they saw that the people were living securely, like the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting. There was nothing lacking in the land and no oppressive ruler. And they were far away from the Sidonians and had no alliance with anyone.
