Dies ist es aber, was die Kinder Israel eingenommen haben im Lande Kanaan, das unter sie ausgeteilt haben der Priester Eleasar und Josua, der Sohn Nuns, und die obersten Väter unter den Stämmen der Kinder Israel.
Now these are the portions that the Israelites inherited in the land of Canaan, as distributed by Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families of the tribes of Israel.
Sie teilten es aber durchs Los unter sie, wie der HErr durch Mose geboten hatte, zu geben den zehnthalb Stämmen.
Their inheritance was assigned by lot for the nine and a half tribes, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.
Denn den zwei Stämmen und dem halben Stamm hatte Mose Erbteil gegeben jenseit des Jordans; den Leviten aber hatte er kein Erbteil unter ihnen gegeben.
For Moses had given the inheritance east of the Jordan to the other two and a half tribes. But he granted no inheritance among them to the Levites.
Denn die Kinder Josephs wurden zwei Stämme, Manasse und Ephraim; den Leviten aber gaben sie kein Teil im Lande, sondern Städte, darin zu wohnen, und Vorstädte für ihr Vieh und ihre Habe.
The descendants of Joseph became two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim. And no portion of the land was given to the Levites, except for cities in which to live, along with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.
Wie der HErr dem Mose geboten hatte, so taten die Kinder Israel und teilten das Land.
So the Israelites did as the LORD had commanded Moses, and they divided the land.
Da traten herzu die Kinder Juda zu Josua zu Gilgal, und Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, sprach zu ihm: Du weißt, was der Herr zu Mose, dem Manne Gottes, sagte meinet- und deinetwegen in Kades-Barnea.
Then the sons of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh-barnea about you and me.
Ich war vierzig Jahre alt, da mich Mose, der Knecht des HErrn, aussandte von Kades-Barnea, das Land zu erkunden, und ich ihm Bericht gab nach meinem Gewissen.
I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back to him an honest report.
Aber meine Brüder, die mit mir hinaufgegangen waren, machten dem Volk das Herz verzagt; ich aber folgte dem HErrn, meinem Gott, treulich.
Although my brothers who went with me made the hearts of the people melt with fear, I remained loyal to the LORD my God.
Da schwur Mose desselben Tages und sprach: Das Land, darauf du mit deinem Fuß getreten hast, soll dein und deiner Kinder Erbteil sein ewiglich, darum dass du dem HErrn, meinem Gott, treulich gefolgt bist.
On that day Moses swore to me, saying, ‘Surely the land on which you have set foot will be an inheritance to you and your children forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’
Und nun siehe, der HErr hat mich leben lassen, wie er geredet hat. Es sind nun fünfundvierzig Jahre, dass der HErr solches zu Mose sagte, die Israel in der Wüste gewandelt ist. Und nun siehe, ich bin heut fünfundachtzig Jahre alt
Now behold, as the LORD promised, He has kept me alive these forty-five years since He spoke this word to Moses, while Israel wandered in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old,
und bin noch heutigestages so stark, als ich war des Tages, da mich Mose aussandte; wie meine Kraft war dazumal, also ist sie auch jetzt, zu streiten und aus und ein zu gehen.
still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. As my strength was then, so it is now for war, for going out, and for coming in.
So gib mir nun dies Gebirge, davon der HErr geredet hat an jenem Tage; denn du hast's gehört am selben Tage. Denn es wohnen die Enakiter droben, und sind große feste Städte. Ob der HErr mit mir sein wollte, dass ich sie vertriebe, wie der HErr geredet hat.
Now therefore give me this hill country that the LORD promised me on that day, for you yourself heard then that the Anakim were there, with great and fortified cities. Perhaps with the LORD’s help I will drive them out, as the LORD has spoken.”
Da segnete ihn Josua und gab also Hebron Kaleb, dem Sohn Jephunnes, zum Erbteil.
Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.
Daher ward Hebron Kalebs, des Sohnes Jephunnes, des Kenisiters, Erbteil bis auf diesen Tag, darum dass er dem HErrn, dem Gott Israels, treulich gefolgt war.
Therefore Hebron belongs to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite as an inheritance to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD, the God of Israel.
Aber Hebron hieß vorzeiten Stadt des Arba, der ein großer Mensch war unter den Enakiter. Und der Krieg hatte aufgehört im Lande.
(Hebron used to be called Kiriath-arba, after Arba, the greatest man among the Anakim.) Then the land had rest from war.
