Σκεῦος οὖν ἔκειτο ὄξους μεστόν· οἱ δέ, πλήσαντες σπόγγον ὄξους, καὶ ὑσσώπῳ περιθέντες, προσήνεγκαν αὐτοῦ τῷ στόματι.
A jar of sour wine (note: Or A jar of wine vinegar; similarly in verse 30) was sitting there. So they soaked a sponge in the wine, put it on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted it to His mouth (note: See Psalm 69:21.).
