Da sprachen sie untereinander: Lasst uns den nicht zerteilen, sondern darum losen, wes er sein soll. (Auf dass erfüllet würde die Schrift, die da sagt: „Sie haben meine Kleider unter sich geteilt und haben über meinen Rock das Los geworfen.”) Solches taten die Kriegsknechte.
So they said to one another, “Let us not tear it. Instead, let us cast lots to see who will get it.” This was to fulfill the Scripture: “They divided My garments among them, and cast lots for My clothing (note: Psalm 22:18).” So that is what the soldiers did.
