Ich erkenne, dass du alles vermagst, und nichts, das du dir vorgenommen, ist dir zu schwer.
“I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
„Wer ist der, der den Ratschluss verhüllt mit Unverstand?” Darum bekenne ich, dass ich habe unweise geredet, was mir zu hoch ist und ich nicht verstehe.
You asked, ‘Who is this who conceals My counsel without knowledge (note: Job 38:2)?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
„So höre nun, lass mich reden; ich will dich fragen, lehre mich!”
You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak. I will question you, and you shall inform Me (note: Job 38:3 and Job 40:7).’
Ich hatte von dir mit den Ohren gehört; aber nun hat dich mein Auge gesehen.
My ears had heard of You, but now my eyes have seen You.
Darum spreche ich mich schuldig und tue Buße in Staub und Asche.
Therefore I despise myself, and I repent in dust and ashes.”
Da nun der HErr mit Hiob diese Worte geredet hatte, sprach er zu Eliphas von Theman: Mein Zorn ist ergrimmt über dich und deine zwei Freunde; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.
After the LORD had spoken these words to Job, He said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My wrath is kindled against you and your two friends. For you have not spoken about Me accurately, as My servant Job has.
So nehmt nun sieben Farren und sieben Widder und geht hin zu meinem Knecht Hiob und opfert Brandopfer für euch und lasst meinen Knecht Hiob für euch bitten. Denn ich will ihn ansehen, dass ich an euch nicht tue nach eurer Torheit; denn ihr habt nicht recht von mir geredet wie mein Knecht Hiob.
So now, take seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. Then My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken accurately about Me, as My servant Job has.”
Da gingen hin Eliphas von Theman, Bildad von Suah und Zophar von Naema und taten, wie der HErr ihnen gesagt hatte; und der HErr sah an Hiob.
So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the LORD had told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.
Und der HErr wandte das Gefängnis Hiobs, da er bat für seine Freunde. Und der Herr gab Hiob zwiefältig so viel, als er gehabt hatte.
After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessions.
Und es kamen zu ihm alle seine Brüder und alle seine Schwestern und alle, die ihn vormals kannten, und aßen mit ihm in seinem Hause und kehrten sich zu ihm und trösteten ihn über alles Übel, das der HErr hatte über ihn kommen lassen. Und ein jeglicher gab ihm einen schönen Groschen und ein goldenes Stirnband.
All his brothers and sisters and prior acquaintances came and dined with him in his house. They consoled him and comforted him over all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. And each one gave him a piece of silver (note: Hebrew a kesitah; the value or weight of the kesitah is no longer known.) and a gold ring.
Und der HErr segnete hernach Hiob mehr denn zuvor, dass er kriegte vierzehntausend Schafe und sechstausend Kamele und tausend Joch Rinder und tausend Eselinnen.
So the LORD blessed Job’s latter days more than his first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
und hieß die erste Jemima, die andere Kezia und die dritte Keren-Happuch.
He named his first daughter Jemimah, his second Keziah, and his third Keren-happuch.
Und wurden nicht so schöne Weiber gefunden in allen Landen wie die Töchter Hiobs. Und ihr Vater gab ihnen Erbteil unter ihren Brüdern.
No women as beautiful as Job’s daughters could be found in all the land, and their father granted them an inheritance among their brothers.
Und Hiob lebte nach diesem hundert und vierzig Jahre, dass er sah Kinder und Kindeskinder bis ins vierte Glied.
After this, Job lived 140 years and saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.
