Und Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, tat ihnen und ihren Männern einen Eid und sprach: Fürchtet euch nicht, dass ihr den Chaldäern untertan sein sollt; bleibt im Lande und seid dem König zu Babel untertan, so wird's euch wohl gehen.
Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, “Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans (note: That is, the Babylonians; also in verse 10). Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.
