Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them (note: Or, should I have continued a husband unto them?), saith the Lord:
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke, though I was a husband to them (note: Hebrew; LXX for they did not abide in My covenant, and I disregarded them; see also Syriac.),” declares the LORD.
