Vor allen Dingen aber, meine Brüder, schwöret nicht, weder bei dem Himmel noch bei der Erde noch mit einem andern Eid. Es sei aber euer Wort: Ja, das Ja ist; und: Nein, das Nein ist, auf dass ihr nicht unter das Gericht fallet.
Above all, my brothers, do not swear, not by heaven or earth or by any other oath. Simply let your “Yes” be yes, and your “No,” no, so that you will not fall under judgment.
