Αὔτη ἡ βίβλος γενέσεως ἀνθρώπων. ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν Ἀδάμ, κατ’ εἰκόνα θεοῦ ἐποίησεν αὐτόν·
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness.
ἄρσεν καὶ θῆλυ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς, καὶ εὐλόγησεν αὐτούς. καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῶν Ἀδάμ, ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐποίησεν αὐτούς.
Male and female He created them (note: Cited in Matthew 19:4 and Mark 10:6), and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them “man (note: Hebrew Adam).”
ἔζησεν δὲ Ἀδὰμ διακόσια καὶ τριάκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν κατὰ τὴν εἰδέαν αὐτοῦ καὶ κατὰ τὴν εἰκόνα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Σήθ.
When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and he named him Seth.
ἐγένοντο δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι Ἀδάμ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Σὴθ ἑπτακόσια ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Seth, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι οἱ ἡμέραι Ἀδὰμ ἃς ἔζησεν ἐννακόσια καὶ τριάκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
Ἔζησεν δὲ Σὴθ διακόσια καὶ πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐνώς.
When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.
καὶ ἔζησεν Σὴθ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Ἐνὼς ἑπτακόσια καὶ ἑπτὰ ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέῥᾶς.
And after he had become the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Σὴθ ἐννακόσια δώδεκα ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Ἐνὼς ἑκατὸν ἐνενήκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Καινάν.
When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.
καὶ ἔζησεν Ἐνὼς μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Καινὰν ἑπτακόσια καὶ δέκα πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Ἐνὼς ἐννακόσια καὶ πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθάνεν.
So Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Καινὰν ἑκατὸν ἑβδομήκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μαλελεήλ.
When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.
καὶ ἔζησεν Καινὰν μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Μαλελεὴλ ἑπτακόσια καὶ τεσσεράκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Καινὰν ἐννακόσια καὶ δέκα ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Μαλελεὴλ ἑκατὸν καὶ ἑξήκοντα πέντε ἔτη, ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰάρεδ.
When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.
καὶ ἔζησεν Μαλελεὴλ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Ἰάρεδ ἑπτακόσια καὶ τριάκοντα ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Μαλελεὴλ ὀκτακόσια καὶ ἐνενήκοντα πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Ἰάρεδ ἑκατὸν καὶ ἑξήκοντα δύο ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἑνώχ.
When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.
καὶ ἔζησεν Ἰάρεδ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Ἑνὼχ ὀκτακόσια ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Ἰάρεδ ἐννακόσια καὶ ἑξήκοντα δύο ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Ἑνὼχ ἑκατὸν καὶ ἑξήκοντα πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μαθουσάλα.
When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.
εὐηρέστησεν δὲ Ἑνὼχ τῷ θεῷ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Μαθουσάλα διακόσια ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God (note: LXX pleased God; also in verse 24) 300 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Ἑνὼχ τριακόσια ἑξήκοντα πέντε ἔτη.
So Enoch lived a total of 365 years.
καὶ εὐηρέστησεν Ἑνὼχ τῷ θεῷ· καὶ οὐχ ηὑρίσκετο, διότι μετέθηκεν αὐτὸν ὁ θεός.
Enoch walked with God, and then he was no more, because God had taken him away.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Μαθουσάλα ἑκατὸν καὶ ὀγδοήκοντα ἑπτὰ ἔτη, κοὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Λάμεχ.
When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.
καὶ ἔζησεν Μαθουσάλα μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Λάμεχ ἑπτακόσια καὶ ὀγδοήκοντα δύο ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Μαθουσάλα ἃς ἔζησεν ἐννακόσια καὶ ἑξήκοντα ἐννέα ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
Καὶ ἔζησεν Λάμεχ ἑκατὸν ὀγδοήκοντα ὀκτὼ ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱόν.
When Lamech was 182 years old, he had a son.
καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Νῶε λέγων Οὗτος διαναπαύσει ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τῶν ἔργων ἡμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν λυπῶν τῶν χειρῶν ἡμῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἧς κατηράσατο Κύριος ὁ θεός.
And he named him Noah (note: Noah sounds like the Hebrew for rest or comfort.), saying, “May this one comfort us in the labor and toil of our hands caused by the ground that the LORD has cursed.”
καὶ ἔζησεν Λάμεχ μετὰ τὸ γεννῆσαι αὐτὸν τὸν Νῶε πεντακόσια καὶ ἑξήκοντα πέντε ἔτη, καὶ ἐγέννησεν υἱοὺς καὶ θυγατέρας.
And after he had become the father of Noah, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters.
καὶ ἐγένοντο πᾶσαι αἱ ἡμέραι Λάμεχ ἑπτακόσια καὶ πεντήκοντα τρία ἔτη, καὶ ἀπέθανεν.
So Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
