וַיִּקְרָ֧א יַעֲקֹ֛ב שֵׁ֥ם הַמָּק֖וֹם פְּנִיאֵ֑ל כִּֽי־ רָאִ֤יתִי אֱלֹהִים֙ פָּנִ֣ים אֶל־ פָּנִ֔ים וַתִּנָּצֵ֖ל נַפְשִֽׁי׃
So Jacob named the place Peniel (note: Peniel means the face of God.), saying, “Indeed, I have seen God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”
