At ille : Nequaquam, inquit, Jacob appellabitur nomen tuum, sed Israël : quoniam si contra Deum fortis fuisti, quanto magis contra homines prævalebis ?
Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob (note: Jacob means he grasps the heel or he deceives.), but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men, and you have prevailed.”
