Then Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram (note: Most MT manuscripts; other Hebrew manuscripts, SP, LXX, and Syriac saw one ram) in a thicket, caught by its horns. So he went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
וַיִּשָּׂ֨א אַבְרָהָ֜ם אֶת־ עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ וְהִנֵּה־ אַ֔יִל אַחַ֕ר נֶאֱחַ֥ז בַּסְּבַ֖ךְ בְּקַרְנָ֑יו וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ אַבְרָהָם֙ וַיִּקַּ֣ח אֶת־ הָאַ֔יִל וַיַּעֲלֵ֥הוּ לְעֹלָ֖ה תַּ֥חַת בְּנֽוֹ׃
