Αὗται δὲ αἱ γενέσεις τῶν υἱῶν Νῶε, Σῆμ’, Χάμ, ’σαν αὐτοῖς υἱοὶ μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμόν.
This is the account of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, who also had sons after the flood.
Υἱοὶ Ἰάφεθ· Μαγώγ καὶ Μαδαὶ καὶ Ἰωυὰν καὶ Ἔλισά καὶ Θοβὲλ καὶ ΜόσοΧ καὶ Φειπάς.
The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
καὶ υἱοὶ Γάμερ· Ἀσχανὰζ καὶ Ῥιφὰθ καὶ Θεργαμά.
The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰωυάν· Ἐλισὰ καὶ Θαρσίς, Κήτιοι, Ῥόδιοι.
And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites (note: SP and some MT manuscripts (see also LXX and 1 Chronicles 1:7); most MT manuscripts Dodanites).
ἐκ τούτων ἀφωρίσθησαν νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐν τῆ γῆ αὐτῶν· ἕκαστος κατὰ γλῶσσαν ἐν τοῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν.
From these, the maritime peoples separated into their territories, according to their languages, by clans within their nations.
Υἱοὶ δὲ Χάμ· Χοὺς καὶ Μεσπάιν, Φοὺδ καὶ Χανάαν.
The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
υἱοὶ δὲ Χούς· Σαβᾶ καὶ Εὑιλὰ καὶ Σαβαθὰ κοὶ Ῥεγχμὰ καὶ Σοβακαθά. υἱοὶ δὲ ῬεγΧμά Σαβᾶ καὶ Δαδάν.
The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah (note: Sabtah is a variant of Sabta; see 1 Chronicles 1:9.), Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan.
Χοὺς δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Νεβρώδ· οὗτος ἤρξατο εἶναι γίγας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς.
Cush was the father of Nimrod, who began to be a mighty one (note: Or who established himself as a mighty warrior or who became the first fearless leader) on the earth.
οὗτος ἦν γίγας κυνηγὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ· διό τοῦτο ἐροῦσιν Ὡς Νεβρὼς γίγας κυνηγὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου.
He was a mighty hunter before (note: Or in defiance of; twice in this verse) the LORD; so it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD.”
καὶ ἐγένετο ἀρχὴ τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ Βαβυλὼν Καὶ ὌρεΧ καὶ ἈρΧὰδ καὶ Χαλαννὴ ἐν τῇ γῇ Σενναάρ.
His kingdom began in Babylon, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar (note: That is, Babylonia).
ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης ἐξῆλθεν Ἀσσούρ καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν τὴν Νινευὴ καὶ τήν Ῥοωβὼς πόλιν καὶ Χάλαχ,
From that land he went forth into Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah,
καὶ τὴν Δάσεμ, ἀνὰ μέσον Νινευὴ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Χάλαχ· αὕτη ἡ πόλις ἡ μεγάλη.
and Resen, which is between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.
καὶ Μεσράιν ἐγέννησεν τούς Λουδιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Νεφθολιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς λἰνεμετιεὶμ τοὺς Λιφιεὶμ
Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites,
καὶ τοὺς ΙΙατροσωνιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Χσμωνιείμ, ὅθεν ἐξῆλθεν ἐκεῖθεν Φυλιστιείμ, καὶ τοὺς ΧαΦθοπιείμ.
the Pathrusites, the Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came), and the Caphtorites (note: Some translators adjust the Hebrew word order to the Casluhites, and the Caphtorites (from whom the Philistines came); see also Jeremiah 47:4 and Amos 9:7.).
Χανάαν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σιδῶνα πρωτότοκον, καὶ τὸν Χετταῖον
And Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn (note: Or of the Sidonians, the foremost), and of the Hittites,
καὶ τὸν Ἰεβουσαῖον κα τὸν Ἀμορραῖον καὶ τὸν Γερυεσαῖον
the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,
καὶ τὸν Ἀράδιον καὶ τὸν Σαμαραῖον καὶ τὸν Ἁμαθί. καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο διεσπάρησαν αἱ φυλαὶ τῶν Χαναναίων.
the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans were scattered,
καὶ ἐγένοντο τὰ ὅρια Χαναναίων ἀπὸ Σιδῶνος ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Γέραρα κα Γάζαν, ἕως ἐλθεῖν ἕως Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρας, Ἀδαμὰ καὶ Σεβωὶμ ἕως Δασά.
and the borders of Canaan extended from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.
οὗτοι υἱοὶ ἐν ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν, κατὰ γλώσσας αὐτῶν, ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν.
These are the sons of Ham according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
Καὶ τῷ Σὴμ ἐγενήθη καὶ αὐτῶ, πατρὶ πόντων τῶν υἱῶν Ἔβερ, ἀδελφῷ ἸάΦεθ τοῦ μείζονος.
And sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth; Shem was the forefather of all the sons of Eber.
υἱοὶ Σῆμ’. Αἰλὰμ καὶ Ἀσσοὺρ καὶ Ἀρφαξὰδ καὶ Λοὺδ καὶ Ἀράμ.
The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀράμ· Ὤς καὶ Οὔλ καὶ Γάθερ καὶ Μόσοχ.
The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash (note: Hebrew; LXX and 1 Chronicles 1:17 Meshech).
καὶ Ἀρφαξὰδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Καινάμ, καὶ Καινὰμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σάλα, Σάλα δὲ τὸν Ἔβερ.
Arphaxad was the father of Shelah (note: Hebrew; LXX (see also Luke 3:35–36) And Arphaxad was the father of Cainan, and Cainan was the father of Shelah,), and Shelah was the father of Eber.
καὶ τῷ Ἔβερ ἐγεννήθησαν δύο υἱοί· ὄνομα τῷ ἑνὶ Φάλεκ, ὅτι ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ διεμερίσθη ἡ γῆ, καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ Ἰεκτάν.
Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg (note: Peleg means division.), because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother was named Joktan.
Ἰεκτὰν δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἐλμωδὰδ καὶ τὸν Σάλεφ καὶ τὸν Ἁσαρμὼθ καὶ Ἰάραδ
And Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
καὶ Οὐφεὶρ καὶ Εὔειλά καὶ Ἰωβὄβ. πάντες οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἱεκτάν.
Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ κατοίκησις αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Μασσηὲ ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Σωφήρα, ὄρος ἀνατολῶν.
Their territory extended from Mesha to Sephar, in the eastern hill country.
οὗτοι οἱ υἱοὶ Σῆμ’ ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς κατὰ γλώσσας αὐτῶν, ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν.
These are the sons of Shem, according to their clans, languages, lands, and nations.
Αὗται αἱ φυλαὶ υἱῶν Νῶε κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἔθνη αὐτῶν· ἀπὸ τούτων διεσπάρησαν νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμόν.
All these are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their generations and nations. From these the nations of the earth spread out after the flood.
