from the descendants of Phinehas, Gershom; from the descendants of Ithamar, Daniel; from the descendants of David, Hattush

of the descendants of Shecaniah; from the descendants of Parosh, Zechariah, and with him were registered 150 men;

Und ich versammelte sie ans Wasser, das gen Ahava kommt; und wir bleiben drei Tage daselbst. Und da ich achthatte aufs Volk und die Priester, fand ich keine Leviten daselbst.
Now I assembled these exiles at the canal that flows to Ahava, and we camped there three days. And when I searched among the people and priests, I found no Levites there.
Da sandte ich hin Elieser, Ariel, Semaja, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Sacharja und Mesullam, die Obersten, und Jojarib und Elnathan, die Lehrer,
Then I summoned the leaders: Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan (note: Elnathan appears three times in verse, either as a repetition for emphasis or as a record of multiple men with this name.), Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, as well as the teachers Joiarib and Elnathan.
und sandte sie aus zu Iddo, dem Obersten, gen Kasphia, dass sie uns holten Diener für das Haus unsres Gottes. Und ich gab ihnen ein, was sie reden sollten mit Iddo und seinen Brüdern, den Tempelknechten, zu Kasphia.
And I sent them to Iddo, the leader at Casiphia, with a message for him and his kinsmen, the temple servants (note: Hebrew the Nethinim; also in verse 20) at Casiphia, that they should bring to us ministers for the house of our God.
Und sie brachten uns, nach der guten Hand unsres Gottes über uns, einen klugen Mann aus den Kindern Maheli, des Sohnes Levis, des Sohnes Israels, und Serebja mit seinen Söhnen und Brüdern, achtzehn,
And since the gracious hand of our God was upon us, they brought us Sherebiah—a man of insight from the descendants of Mahli son of Levi, the son of Israel—along with his sons and brothers, 18 men;
und Hasabja und mit ihm Jesaja von den Kindern Merari mit seinen Brüdern und ihren Söhnen, zwanzig,
also Hashabiah, together with Jeshaiah, from the descendants of Merari, and his brothers and their sons, 20 men.
und von den Tempelknechten, die David und die Fürsten gaben, zu dienen den Leviten, zweihundertundzwanzig, alle mit Namen genannt.
They also brought 220 of the temple servants, all designated by name. David and the officials had appointed them to assist the Levites.
Und ich ließ daselbst am Wasser bei Ahava ein Fasten ausrufen, dass wir uns demütigten vor unsrem Gott, zu suchen von ihm einen richtigen Weg für uns und unsre Kinder und alle unsre Habe.
And there by the Ahava Canal I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask Him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions.
Denn ich schämte mich vom König Geleit und Reiter zu fordern, uns wider die Feinde zu helfen auf dem Wege. Denn wir hatten dem König gesagt: Die Hand unsres Gottes ist zum Besten über alle, die ihn suchen, und seine Stärke und Zorn über alle, die ihn verlassen.
For I was ashamed to ask the king for an escort of soldiers and horsemen to protect us from our enemies on the road, since we had told him, “The hand of our God is gracious to all who seek Him, but His great anger is against all who forsake Him.”
Also fasteten wir und suchten solches von unsrem Gott, und er hörte uns.
So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and He granted our request.
Und ich sonderte zwölf aus von den obersten Priestern, dazu Serebja und Hasabja und mit ihnen ihrer Brüder zehn,
Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests, together with Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brothers,
und wog ihnen dar das Silber und Gold und die Gefäße zur Hebe für das Haus unsres Gottes, welche der König und seine Ratsherren und Fürsten und ganz Israel, das vorhanden war, zur Hebe gegeben hatten.
and I weighed out to them the contribution of silver and gold and the articles that the king, his counselors, his leaders, and all the Israelites there had offered for the house of our God.
Und wog ihnen dar unter ihre Hand sechshundertundfünfzig Zentner Silber und an silbernen Gefäßen hundert zentner und an Gold hundert Zentner,
I weighed out into their hands 650 talents (note: 100 talents is approximately 3.77 tons or 3.42 metric tons of silver articles.) of silver (note: 650 talents is approximately 24.5 tons or 22.2 metric tons of silver.), articles of silver weighing 100 talents, 100 talents of gold (note: 100 talents is approximately 3.77 tons or 3.42 metric tons of gold.),
zwanzig goldene Becher, tausend Goldgulden wert, und zwei eherne, köstliche Gefäße, lauter wie Gold.
20 gold bowls valued at 1,000 darics (note: Or worth 1,000 drachmas; that is, approximately 18.5 pounds or 8.4 kilograms of gold), and two articles of fine polished bronze, as precious as gold.
Und sprach zu ihnen: Ihr seid heilig dem HErrn, so sind die Gefäße auch heilig; dazu das frei gegebene Silber und Gold dem HErrn, eurer Väter Gott.
Then I told them, “You are holy to the LORD, and these articles are holy. The silver and gold are a freewill offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.
So wacht und bewahrt es, bis dass ihr's darwägt vor den Obersten Priestern und Leviten und den Obersten der Vaterhäuser in Israel zu Jerusalem in die Kammer des Hauses des HErrn.
Guard them carefully until you weigh them out in the chambers of the house of the LORD in Jerusalem before the leading priests, Levites, and heads of the Israelite families.”
Da nahmen die Priester und Leviten das gewogene Silber und Gold und die Gefäße, dass sie es brächten gen Jerusalem zum Hause unsres Gottes.
So the priests and Levites took charge of the silver and gold and sacred articles that had been weighed out to be taken to the house of our God in Jerusalem.
Also brachen wir auf von dem Wasser Ahava am zwölften Tage des ersten Monats, dass wir gen Jerusalem zögen. Und die Hand unsres Gottes war über uns und errettete uns von der Hand der Feinde und derer, die uns nachstellten auf dem Wege.
On the twelfth day of the first month we set out from the Ahava Canal to go to Jerusalem, and the hand of our God was upon us to protect us from the hands of the enemies and bandits along the way.
Und wir kamen gen Jerusalem und blieben daselbst drei Tage.
So we arrived at Jerusalem and rested there for three days.
Aber am vierten Tage wurden dargewogen das Silber und Gold und die Gefäße ins Haus unsres Gottes unter die Hand des Priesters Meremoth, des Sohnes Urias, und mit ihm Eleasar, dem Sohn Pinehas, und mit ihnen Josabad, dem Sohn Jesuas, und Noadja, dem Sohn Binnuis, den Leviten,
On the fourth day, in the house of our God, we weighed out the silver and gold and sacred articles into the hand of Meremoth son of Uriah, the priest. Eleazar son of Phinehas was with him, along with the Levites Jozabad son of Jeshua and Noadiah son of Binnui.
nach Zahl und Gewicht eines jeglichen; und das Gewicht ward zu der Zeit alles aufgeschrieben.
Everything was verified by number and weight, and the total weight was recorded at that time.
Und die Kinder der Gefangenschaft, die aus der Gefangenschaft gekommen waren, opferten Brandopfer dem Gott Israels: zwölf Farren für das ganze Israel, sechsundneunzig Widder, siebenundsiebzig Lämmer, zwölf Böcke zum Sündopfer, alles zum Brandopfer dem HErrn.
Then the exiles who had returned from captivity sacrificed burnt offerings to the God of Israel: 12 bulls for all Israel, 96 rams, 77 lambs, and a sin offering of 12 male goats. All this was a burnt offering to the LORD.
Und sie überantworteten des Königs Befehle den Amtleuten des Königs und den Landpflegern diesseit des Wassers. Und diese halfen dem Volk und dem Hause Gottes.
They also delivered the king’s edicts to the royal satraps (note: A satrap was a Persian official.) and governors of the region west of the Euphrates (note: Hebrew governors beyond the River), who proceeded to assist the people and the house of God.
