וַיִּקְרָא֙ שֵׁ֣ם הַמָּק֔וֹם מַסָּ֖ה וּמְרִיבָ֑ה עַל־ רִ֣יב׀ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְעַ֨ל נַסֹּתָ֤ם אֶת־ יְהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הֲיֵ֧שׁ יְהוָ֛ה בְּקִרְבֵּ֖נוּ אִם־ אָֽיִן׃פ
He named the place Massah (note: Massah means testing.) and Meribah (note: Meribah means quarreling.) because the Israelites quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
