But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images (note: Heb. statues, or pillars), and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
Instead, this is what you are to do to them: tear down their altars, smash their sacred pillars, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their idols in the fire.
