Jaïr, fils de Manassé, prit toute la contrée d’Argob jusqu’à la frontière des Gueschuriens et des Maacathiens, et il donna son nom aux bourgs de Basan, appelés encore aujourd’hui bourgs de Jaïr.
Jair, a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites. He renamed Bashan after himself, Havvoth-jair (note: Or the villages of Jair), by which it is called to this day.
