καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Αμως καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς Αμασιαν οὐκ ἤμην προφήτης ἐγὼ οὐδὲ υἱὸς προφήτου ἀλλ᾿ ἢ αἰπόλος ἤμην καὶ κνίζων συκάμινα
“I was not (note: Or I am not) a prophet,” Amos replied, “nor was I the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman and a tender of sycamore-fig trees.
