Lorsque le tumulte eut cessé, Paul réunit les disciples, prit congé d'eux et partit pour la Macédoine.
When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples. And after encouraging them, he said goodbye to them and left for Macedonia.
Il parcourut cette contrée, en adressant aux disciples de nombreux exhortations, et se rendit en Grèce,
After traveling through that area and speaking many words of encouragement, he arrived in Greece,
où il passa trois mois. Il se disposait à faire voile pour la Syrie, quand les Juifs lui dressèrent des embûches. Alors il se décida à reprendre la route de Macédoine.
where he stayed three months. And when the Jews formed a plot against him as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided to go back through Macedonia.
Il avait pour l'accompagner jusqu'en Asie, Sopater de Bérée, fils de Pyrrhus, Aristarque et Secundus de Thessalonique ; Gaius de Derbé, Timothée, Tychique et Trophime d'Asie.
Paul was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.
Ceux-ci prirent les devants et nous attendirent à Troas.
These men went on ahead and waited for us in Troas.
Pour nous, après les jours des Azymes, nous nous embarquâmes à Philippes, et au bout de cinq jours nous les rejoignîmes à Troas, où nous passâmes sept jours.
And after the Feast of Unleavened Bread (note: Literally after the days of the Unleavened; see Exodus 12:14–20.), we sailed from Philippi, and five days later we rejoined them in Troas, where we stayed seven days.
Le premier jour de la semaine, comme nous étions assemblés pour la fraction du pain, Paul, qui devait partir le lendemain, s'entretint avec les disciples, et prolongea son discours jusqu'à minuit.
On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Since Paul was ready to leave the next day, he talked to them and kept on speaking until midnight.
Il y avait beaucoup de lampes dans la salle haute où nous étions assemblés.
Now there were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered.
Or un jeune homme, nommé Eutyque, était assis sur le bord de la fenêtre. Pendant le long discours de Paul, il s'endormit profondément, et, sous le poids du sommeil, il tomba du troisième en bas ; on le releva mort.
And a certain young man named Eutychus, seated in the window, was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell from the third story and was picked up dead.
Mais Paul, étant descendu, se pencha sur lui et le prit dans ses bras, en disant : " Ne vous troublez pas, car son âme est en lui. "
But Paul went down, threw himself on the young man, and embraced him. “Do not be alarmed!” he said. “He is still alive!”
Puis étant remonté, il rompit le pain et mangea, et il parla longtemps encore, jusqu'au jour ; après quoi, il partit.
Then Paul went back upstairs, broke bread, and ate. And after speaking until daybreak, he departed.
Quant au jeune homme, on le ramena vivant, ce qui fut le sujet d'une grande consolation.
And the people were greatly relieved to take the boy home alive.
Pour nous, prenant les devants par mer, nous fîmes voile pour Assos, où nous devions reprendre Paul ; c'est ainsi qu'il l'avait ordonné ; car il devait faire le voyage à pied.
We went on ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos, where we were to take Paul aboard. He had arranged this because he was going there on foot.
Quand il nous eut rejoints à Assos, nous le prîmes à bord, et nous gagnâmes Mytilène.
And when he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.
De là, continuant par la mer, nous arrivâmes le lendemain à la hauteur de Chio. Le jour suivant, nous cinglâmes vers Samos, et, [après avoir passé la nuit à Trogylle], nous arrivâmes le lendemain à Milet.
Sailing on from there, we arrived the next day opposite Chios. The day after that we arrived at Samos, and (note: BYZ and TR and, after remaining at Trogyllium,) on the following day we came to Miletus.
Paul avait résolu de passer devant Ephèse sans s'y arrêter, afin de ne pas perdre de temps en Asie. Car il se hâtait pour se trouver, s'il était possible, à Jérusalem, le jour de la Pentecôte.
Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus to avoid spending time in the province of Asia, because he was in a hurry to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the day of Pentecost (note: That is, Shavuot, the late spring feast of pilgrimage to Jerusalem; it is also known as the Feast of Harvest (see Exodus 23:16) or the Feast of Weeks (see Exodus 34:22).).

From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.
Lorsqu'ils furent réunis autour de lui, il leur dit : " Vous savez comment, depuis le premier jour que j'ai mis le pied en Asie, je me suis toujours comporté avec vous,
When they came to him, he said, “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I arrived in the province of Asia.
servant le Seigneur en toute humilité, au milieu des larmes et des épreuves que me suscitaient les embûches des Juifs ;
I served the Lord with great humility and with tears, especially in the trials that came upon me through the plots of the Jews.
comment je ne vous ai rien caché de ce qui vous était avantageux, ne manquant pas de prêcher et de vous instruire en public et dans les maisons particulières ;
I did not shrink back from declaring anything that was helpful to you as I taught you publicly and from house to house,
annonçant aux Juifs et aux Gentils le retour à Dieu par la pénitence et la foi en Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
testifying to Jews and Greeks alike about repentance to God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ (note: ECM, TR, and Tischendorf; SBL, NE, BYZ, and WH our Lord Jesus).
Et maintenant voici que, lié par l'Esprit, je vais à Jérusalem, sans savoir ce qui doit m'arriver ;
And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.
si ce n'est que de ville en ville l'Esprit-Saint m'assure que des chaînes et des persécutions m'attendent.
I only know that in town after town the Holy Spirit warns me that chains and afflictions await me.
Mais je n'en tiens aucun compte, et je n'attache pour moi-même aucun prix à la vie, pourvu que je consomme ma course et que j'accomplisse le ministère que j'ai reçu du Seigneur Jésus, d'annoncer la bonne nouvelle de la grâce de Dieu.
But I consider my life of no value to me, if only I may finish my course and complete the ministry I have received from the Lord Jesus—the ministry of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
Oui, je sais que vous ne verrez plus mon visage, ô vous tous parmi lesquels j'ai passé en prêchant le royaume de Dieu.
Now I know that none of you among whom I have preached the kingdom will see my face again.
C'est pourquoi je vous atteste aujourd'hui que je suis pur du sang de tous ;
Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men.
car je vous ai annoncé tout le dessein de Dieu, sans vous en rien cacher.
For I did not shrink back from declaring to you the whole will of God.
Prenez donc garde à vous-mêmes et à tout le troupeau sur lequel le Saint-Esprit vous a établis évêques, pour paître l'Eglise du Seigneur, qu'il s'est acquise par son propre sang.
Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God (note: Tischendorf of the Lord; BYZ and PT of the Lord and God), which He purchased with His own blood (note: Or with the blood of His own Son.).
Moi, je sais en effet qu'après mon départ, il s'introduira parmi vous des loups cruels qui n'épargneront pas le troupeau.
I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
Et même il s'élèvera du milieu de vous des hommes qui enseigneront des doctrines perverses pour entraîner les disciples après eux.
Even from your own number, men will rise up and distort the truth to draw away disciples after them.
Veillez donc, vous souvenant que, durant trois années, je n'ai cessé nuit et jour d'exhorter avec larmes chacun de vous.
Therefore be alert and remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
Et maintenant je vous recommande à Dieu, et à la parole de sa grâce, à celui qui peut achever l'édifice et vous donner l'héritage avec tous les sanctifiés.
And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.
Je n'ai désiré ni l'argent, ni l'or, ni le vêtement de personne.
I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.
Vous savez vous-mêmes que ces mains ont pourvu à mes besoins et à ceux des personnes qui étaient avec moi.
You yourselves know that these hands of mine have ministered to my own needs and those of my companions.
Je vous ai montré de toutes manières que c'est en travaillant ainsi qu'il faut soutenir les faibles, et se rappeler la parole du Seigneur Jésus, qui a dit lui-même : Il y a plus de bonheur à donner qu'à recevoir. "
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Après avoir ainsi parlé, il se mit à genoux et pria avec eux tous.
When Paul had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.
Ils fondaient tous en larmes, en se jetant au cou de Paul, ils le baisaient,
They all wept openly as they embraced Paul and kissed him.
affligés surtout de ce qu'il avait dit : " Vous ne verrez plus mon visage. " Et ils l'accompagnèrent jusqu'au navire.
They were especially grieved by his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
